Candidate Profile

As a Technical Systems Specialist, ideally you will possess the following :
  • A Minimum of 5 years' related technical experience in Technical / IT environment
  • Degree (BSc computer science) or diploma in IT (Systems Analysis, Systems Design, Information Security),
  • Expert knowledge of relevant computing systems: Networks (LAN and WAN), routers, firewalls, switches, E-Mail and Internet, Servers, Security on all platforms, Operating Systems, Hardware, Software
  • Certification in Cisco Networking, SQL database management, VMWare, Cloud Technology
  • Coding qualification, experience relating to C+, C++, Visual Basic, Java, CSS, .NET,
  • Database experience or qualification: SQL, MySQL
  • Excellent competency / previous experience with VMWare, SQL databases, Windows Server, Cisco networking, Office 365, Docuware, Kofax systems advantageous
  • Key competencies include e xcellent technical expertise, excellent analytical and reporting capabilities , problem solve technical issues, highly structured and motivated individual, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to plan and organise time, self and work (multitask) in order to achieve objectives and targets, Ability to work under pressure
  • English is the working language, French is a plus
  • Business Continuity Resource: Yes Critical

Activities

As a Technical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for the following activities :

Technical Expertise:
  • Ensures provision, availability and reliability of IT infrastructure for the defined area of responsibility
  • Provides relevant technical expertise, maintenance, and support, with regard to all aspects of the IT infrastructure within area of responsibility (databases, network, hardware, software)
  • Drafts the relevant and necessary technical documentation relating to specifications, schematics, blueprint, architecture, processes, procedures, works instructions, etc.
  • Ensuring cost effectiveness of new initiatives, always aligning wherever possible to group standards and solutions available.
  • Assisting in evaluating new technologies and new IT suppliers.

Monitoring and Incident Management:
  • Identifies, analyses, isolates, troubleshoots, and provides detailed resolutions/solutions for complex technical issues with regard to all aspects of the IT infrastructure within the area of responsibility (databases, network, hardware, software)
  • Leads & owns the incidents within area of responsibility, including logging with relevant party, until successful ticket closure, with communication, reporting (REX) and escalations as applicable
  • Manages/Ensures the monitoring of systems within the local context and / or area of responsibility.
  • Interfaces with business with regards to system usage and availability as well as potential impacts on anomalies.

Relationship Management:
  • Ensures strong relationships and understanding of environment and requirements, with the IS Team such as management, Solutions Analysts, Technical resources and project managers
  • Works well with group contact, counterparts and suppliers, ensuring good relationships are maintained and that local and group environment and context is understood and supported, as required

Risk and Controls:
  • Ensures that risk management elements and identification of business-critical services/applications are incorporated into each responsibility, as applicable
  • Contribution to risk assessments regarding new projects and new solutions proposed for implementation
  • Maintains a safe work environment by following all relevant rules, standards and policies and actively seeks to know them and understand them
  • Always works with the key values of the organisation being top of mind, i.e. Safety, Respect for each other, pioneer spirit, stand together, performance minded,
  • Maintains strict confidentiality regarding information
  • Maintains the required escalation contacts and ensure that the notification system for escalations as a result of environmental factors in the datacentre is working.
