Responsibilities:
- Provides technical safety / safety engineering expertise, advice and technical challenge to Senior Management, Operations, Projects, Well Engineering, Non-operated Assets and Business Development.
- Custodian of key technical safety ODMS documents.
- Technical authority and decision-maker on contractor/consultant selection with technical safety engineering content.
- Definition of statement of requirements, criteria and scoring evaluation, negotiation on price and review / validation of deliverables from specialist consultants/contractors ensuring outputs meet Company standards for quality and technical acceptability.
- Represents Company on industry committees and specialist forums involving legislative authorities and other oil and gas operators, ensuring the Company position and views are communicated and influencing as appropriate.
- Promotes best practice and use of innovative technology.
- Participates in safety engineering related incident investigation and RCAs providing expert knowledge and direction.
- Lead the human factors related work with support from external consultants
- Familiarise with the company’s policies, including the policies on HSE, Risk Management and Major Hazards ensuring they are fully conversant with the Management Systems.
- Familiarise with the work and be aware of all associated risks for People, the Environment, Assets and Reputation (PEAR);
- Understand and comply with their roles and responsibilities
- Fully participate in the Serious About Safety Program and additional HSEQ training or instruction by or on behalf of the client.
- Safety Oversight: Ensure all safety standards and procedures are strictly followed. Report any incident, near miss, hazards (unsafe acts/situations) and improvement suggestions;
- Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate identified risks. Ensure all risk assessments are correctly documented.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulations and standards, ensuring all correspondence is correctly recorded and cascaded.
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, i.e. engineering or scientific subject preferably chemical engineering, process engineering or process safety engineering
- Preferably professional qualification post first degree in Safety Engineering or Process Safety Engineering
- Demonstrable technical safety engineering experience and knowledge covering design, project engineering, construction, commissioning, operations and human factors for offshore assets (particularly in the North Sea).
- Expert capability in the full range of technical risk assessment and management techniques.
- Results driven with a focus on continuous improvement
- Expert knowledge and understanding of UK Safety Case Regulations 2015
- Highest standards of ethical and professional behaviour, consistent with the company’s values for safety, respect and integrity.
- Good analytical approach to solving technical problems
- Excellent communication skills. Proven ability to interact effectively at all organisation levels.
- Ability to work within diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
- Be able to build relationships and trust with colleagues.
- Results-oriented, articulate, persuasive.
