Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer, based onshore in Aberdeen. This is a PAYE 12 month contract based in their Aberdeen offices. Offshore trips will be required quarterly.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure rotating & static mechanical related equipment is managed and maintained effectively and that mechanical engineering activities are delivered in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Health, Safety & Environmental practices.
  • Participation in risk based inspection reviews.
  • Prioritise repairs and inspections as required. Record the integrity status of mechanical related equipment and provide preliminary assessment of any associated risk.
  • Review maintenance deferrals for planned and corrective maintenance work.
  • Responsible for company assurance and verification requirements to satisfy class/flag.
  • Review and input into Operational Risk Assessments.
  • Input into Management of Change process and that changes to the design and maintenance of equipment are appropriately documented. Occasionally manage minor modifications.
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance and project teams where required.
  • Carry out engineering studies, and root cause investigations where required in support of delivering to an agenda of continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with manufacturers on aspects of equipment trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Support the development and implementation of improved operational, maintenance and reliability strategies to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Support the implementation of obsolescence related maintenance and integrity improvements.
  • Responsible for site Cat 1 documents.
  • Support equipment reliability and availability reviews.
  • Provide reviews into critical and operational spares with the aim of ensuring critical spares are always available.
  • Develop SORs, review decommissioning work packs, decommissioning work programmes and technical proposals provided by 3rd parties in support of mechanical work execution.
  • Support the decommissioning programmes and the implementation of safe mechanical procedures and practices.
  • Able to prioritise multiple work activities to deliver on key objectives for the asset.
  • Ability to work with individuals from a background in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Present themselves in a professional and ethical manner appropriate to the company’s values.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, complying with and promoting the HSE&A policy and processes.
  • Works collaboratively within a team environment and takes initiative to get things done
  • Ability to communicate concisely, both verbally and written.
  • A motivated self-starter, proactive, flexible and able to respond positively to challenge and ad-hoc requests.
  • Ability to work within a team, however, equally able work on own initiative with minimum supervision.

  • Able to travel offshore to support.
 
Specific Requirements:
  • Delivering operations, engineering, integrity management & maintenance support to the client’s offshore operated assets.
  • Strong safety/environmental awareness - understanding of legislative requirements.
  • Experience in the creation of Scopes of Work for vendor and offshore scope.
  • Experience of modification/project ‘close-out’ processes, FATs & SATs.
  • Excellent technical knowledge/experience of static and rotating equipment with demonstrable understanding of maintenance strategies for mechanical equipment
  • Responsible for development and management of the FPSO mechanical budget
  • Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Incident investigation.
Education
Essential
  • Mechanical engineering Masters or Bachelor’s degree, though suitable experience may be considered to be equivalent.
  • Able to demonstrate continuing personal and professional development.
 
Desirable
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Candidates should hold chartership accreditation with a recognised UK professional body and be recognised as a Chartered Engineer through the Engineering Council.
