The I&E Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation, electrical systems (both low and medium voltage), and control systems within a biodiesel facility. This role involves collaborating with contractors to maintain and upgrade the plant, ensuring it remains safe and clean.

The I&E Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation, electrical systems (both low and medium voltage), and control systems within a biodiesel facility. This role involves collaborating with contractors to maintain and upgrade the plant, ensuring it remains safe and clean.
Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled installation, commissioning, inspection, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and related equipment.
- Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System to create work orders for inventory, work planning, and prioritization.
- Assess and complete performance checks on equipment such as level controllers and pressure transmitters, recording and validating instrument performance.
- Build instrumentation and electrical panels.
- Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit, fittings, and tubing as needed for equipment installation or repair. Install cable trays.
- Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wires, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber optic and coaxial cable assemblies, and lighting fixtures.
- Disconnect, connect, and rewire electrical wiring according to NFPA 70 (NEC), 70E, and 70B standards.
- Troubleshoot and maintain computer control systems such as PLC and HMI.
- Ensure all work adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Minimum 2-year technical associate degree or 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Preferred: ISA CCST certification.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of methods and procedures in the Instrumentation and Electrical trades, including occupational hazards and safety precautions. Instrumentation knowledge is crucial.
- General understanding of motor controls, transformers, lighting arrestors, grounding, emergency systems, test equipment and procedures, cable terminations, heat trace, and lighting.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with company policies and guidelines.
- Basic understanding of instrumentation, controls, control systems, safety systems, and electrical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and control drawings.
- Proficiency in using PLC for troubleshooting.
- Understanding of flow, level, temperature, and pressure measurement principles.
- Basic computer skills for ordering materials, communication, entering equipment history, and email.
- Ability to work as part of a team, be open to mentoring and training, and demonstrate trustworthiness and dependability.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work overtime and be on-call as needed.
