We have a current opportunity for a Mechanical Package Engineer on a contract basis with a leading specialist in water treatment systems for the offshore Oil & Gas sector.

The position will be based in the Glasgow area, with hybrid working available.

Key Objectives:
To identify and, as required, design and specify equipment to implement specified process requirements. To assist in the procurement of specified equipment and it’s integration into the overall plant design. To aid development of company standard products to maintain product integrity and competitiveness in the market.

Main Duties:
  • Identification and design validation of process equipment
  • Creation of equipment technical specifications and datasheets for procurement purposes based on customer specifications.
  • Creation of purchase requisitions for purchase of capital equipment.
  • Management of sub-contract vendors including review of vendor documentation and attendance of vendor clarification meetings.
  • Interface with vendors, third party inspectors or Classification Societies to ensure specification compliance.
  • Interface with Drawing Office to create fabrication/installation drawings
  • Checking of drawings and participation in design reviews
  • Responsible for integrating the mechanical equipment into the overall design.
  • Interface and co-ordination with other discipline engineers within the department.
  • Provision of technical support to Sales and tendering.
  • To carry out such tasks within his/her capability as required by the Mechanical Engineering Manager.


Other duties as and when required Organisational Relationships:
  • While reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, the holder will be required to form effective relationships with the project team for which he/she is providing a design and with the other engineering staff with whom the design is being developed.
  • Reporting on a day to day basis with the Project Engineering Manager and Project Manager of any assigned projects.
  • Interface with Tender Design Manager on technical support of the Tendering process.

Essential Professional Qualities :
  • Member or Associate Member of appropriate institution Professionally qualified
  • Experience of selecting/designing process equipment
  • Highly numerate with a strong engineering background
  • Able to interface with vendors and customers on technical issues
  • Strong knowledge of piping materials, testing criteria and international standards.
  • Strong knowledge of valve types and specifications common to the offshore market for seawater service
