Job Purpose
Plan and support Instrumentation and Fire & Gas (F&G) engineering activities during the EPC and Startup phases of major oil & gas projects. Ensure that all project deliverables meet operational expectations in terms of safety, operability, reliability, and maintainability, from initial design through to handover to the permanent asset team.
Key Job Accountabilities

Technical Support & Reviews

Lead and participate in design and safety reviews such as SIL workshops, SIL assessments/verifications, HAZOP, and more.

Provide commissioning, startup, failure analysis, and advanced troubleshooting expertise for Instrumentation and F&G systems.

System Surveillance & Administration
-
Assist in the development and implementation of surveillance and administration programs for critical Instrument and F&G systems.

Ensure these programs meet standards for reliability, availability, and cybersecurity.

Integrity Program Support
-
Contribute to the definition and deployment of integrity programs that uphold safety and performance standards throughout the system lifecycle.

Cross-Functional Support

Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and departments to provide Instrument/F&G expertise that aligns with project and business goals.

Contractor & Vendor Supervision

Oversee the work of contractors, consultants, and service providers to ensure deliverables are compliant, timely, and high-quality.

Mentorship
-
Guide and mentor junior engineers in applying reliability, integrity, and design best practices.

Tie-in and Interface Coordination
-
Facilitate the completion of project tie-ins and ensure integration of all Instrumentation and F&G systems with existing infrastructure.

Issue & Risk Management
-
Maintain an Issue Register to track and resolve critical technical issues, including evaluation of new technology risks that may impact reliability, availability, or cybersecurity.

Commissioning Support

Support high-risk commissioning activities by:
a) Conducting detailed system surveillance,
b) Tuning and optimizing instrumentation and F&G systems,
c) Advising operations and maintenance personnel on complex technical issues.

Qualifications & Experience
-
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Instrumentation, Electronics, or related field). -
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of experience in the oil & gas industry with exposure to large-scale projects. -
Technical Competencies:

Strong working knowledge of:

DCS, PLCs, ESD/F&G Systems,

Anti-Surge Control Systems,

Turbine/Compressor Controls,

Metering Systems,
-
Full understanding of SIL (Safety Integrity Level) requirements.

Familiarity with project life cycles from design through commissioning and operations.
