We are currently seeking a Subcontracts Manager, reporting directly to Subcontracts Director to join our Subcontracts team based in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

About the opportunity we offer:

This role involves leading and implementing subcontracting strategies and processes at a significant project or organizational level. The manager is responsible for the entire lifecycle of subcontracts, from initial development and bidding to negotiation, administration during execution, and final closeout.

Key aspects of the role include ensuring compliance, managing costs and contractual matters, overseeing subcontractor performance, and potentially supervising a team of subcontracting professionals. The role requires a strong understanding of project management, excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, and prior experience in subcontracting management, ideally with job site exposure. The scope of responsibility includes managing subcontracts with a value below 1.3 billion EUR and potentially leading small teams.

The main accountabilities for this position revolve around leading and executing all aspects of the subcontracting process for projects. This includes:
  • Managing the entire lifecycle of subcontracts: From initial development and bidding to negotiation, award, administration during execution (including changes and claims), and final closeout.
  • Ensuring compliance and implementing effective processes: Reviewing contracts, establishing procedures, and ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Overseeing subcontractor performance: Monitoring progress, validating invoices, assessing performance, and addressing any issues.
  • Potentially leading and mentoring others: Supervising and training subcontracting engineers and lead engineers.
  • Providing reporting and analysis: Compiling data on cost, schedule, and performance to inform decision-making.

Qualification: Bachelor Degree related

Language: Fluency in English and Spanish.

Experience: Previous professional experience in Engineering/Construction/ Subcontract/Site Experience, Contract and claim management experience,

  • Management and Leadership Skills: The role explicitly mentions supervising and training engineers, as well as potentially leading onshore or offshore activities. This demands the ability to motivate, guide, and develop a team.
