Job Title: Civil Engineer
Department / Function: Facilities Management – Infrastructure Projects
Responsibility for People: Technical Staff with Contractor supervisory & Quality Assurance responsibilities
Location: HQ / SR field as required
Work Pattern: Full time 5 days working / 2 day off
Role Synopsis:
Reporting to the Infrastructure Projects (IP) Engineering & QC Manager, the Civil Engineer is responsible for ensuring completion of all civil works aspects of IP projects, as directed.
Working as part of a team of skilled engineers, the Civil Engineer will be required to use judgement and experience to ensure all associated contracted Civil tasks are proposed, executed and completed to a high standard with regards to civil engineering design, quality assurance and compliance.
Overseeing, supervising and following up all aspects of infrastructure civil engineering (direct execution and / or by contracts).
Directly accountable for the civil design packages for sites:
Organizing project reports, civil works FEED coordination, Technical Query (TQY) processing, review and approvals, follow-up the requests of the IP Engineering & QC Manager, coordinating with FM/IP management and other departments.
Key Accountabilities:

The Civil Engineer will require broad experience in civil engineering projects, construction management and civil engineering.
Additional Skills & Character
The role requires a good communicator with depth of experience in Civil engineering, smart appearance, good written and verbal English language skills with ability to command the respect of their team, peers and contractors.
Demonstrable experience of working with established Internationally recognised Companies within the Middle East would be an advantage.

- Capable of developing civil engineering design solutions that are technically sound, economically feasible, and constructible as per specification and international code & standard.
- Review structural and technical civil works drawings.
- Manage and lead designers and contracted engineers in Civil engineering disciplines, HSE code and standard compliance, Project Controls and Quality Control.
- Study material specifications and proposals to determine appropriate compliance standards and construction methods
- Promote and follow FEED Procedures and HSE Policies
- Review and comment / approve civil engineering drawings to ‘Issued For Construction’ (IFC) from IP Contractors.
- Communicate and liaise with IP Engineering & QC Manager in all quality and value issues, such as Design BOQ/invoice verification, design amendment, variation requests, Engineers Instructions (EI’s) etc.
- Management of Civil engineering technical queries, throughout the FEED, delivery and completions processes.
- Review and comment ‘As Built’ drawings and Works package documentation to ensure QC of completion processes.
- Actively engage HSE with all aspects of FEED, execution and completion phases of IP construction projects.

Key Accountabilities:
Duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Civil Engineering FEED Subject Matter Expert (SME) reviews and Technical Approvals, for civil engineering works in Sites and as directed by FM/IP Management.
- Coordinating and sharing Civil Design Work and drawings within IP, other departments and contracted projects teams.
- Cooperating with HSE and compliance in all aspects of civil engineering, in order to ensure that all safety codes and standards are adhered correctly
- Ensure project documentation processes and Completions and Quality Assurance of the works is completed and recorded on Sharecat systems.
- Updating Department reports, attending department meetings and planning reviews.
- Following up all requests of IP Engineering and QC Manager with Contractors and coordination with departments.
Criteria & Qualifications:
The Civil Engineer will require broad experience in civil engineering projects, construction management and civil engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering
- 10 Years experience as a Civil Engineer
- Civil design and design review skills
- Project management skills
Additional Skills & Character
- Computer literate and able to use MS Word, Excel, Planner and Outlook well.
- Able to complete drawing amendments and annotations using MS software, ACAD or equivalent design software.
- Able to communicate both verbally and in written English language at all levels.
- Excellent technical execution capabilities with confident application of compliance standards.
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
- The ability and confidence to enforce and maintain a high standard of health and safety legislation.
- The initiative to work on your own or as part of a team.
- The ability to manage a varied workload.
- Experience and knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations.

- Experience in code and standards application to FEED proposals, drawing reviews and material submissions.
- Experience in Technical Query Processing and communicating discrepancies at all levels during the project (FEED/Materials/Delivery/Completions) .
