Mechanical Engineer – Static & Piping
Location: The Hague / Den Helder, Netherlands
Type: Full-Time | Hybrid (Office & Remote)

Orion Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading player in the energy sector, for a Mechanical Engineer – Static & Piping to join their Projects & Engineering team in the Netherlands.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to complex brownfield modification projects in a dynamic upstream oil & gas environment. The successful candidate will support the technical execution of plant changes, focusing on piping and static equipment, and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.
The Role As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:
  • Lead and support the technical scope of plant change projects within the piping discipline.
  • Provide expert input on specifications, vendor selections, and bid evaluations.
  • Review and approve marked-up drawings and isometric sketches (drafting performed by others).
  • Manage contractor deliverables and ensure adherence to relevant codes and standards.
  • Maintain updated as-built documentation via the client’s document control system.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, HSE teams, and third-party contractors.
  • Travel offshore occasionally (training provided).
Requirements
  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a piping engineering role within the oil & gas industry (upstream preferred).
  • In-depth understanding of industry standards, mechanical static and rotating equipment.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English – both languages are mandatory.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with brownfield projects and managing change processes.
