No experience / No degreeOur client, an Oil & Gas client in Darwin is currently seeking a Purchaser to join them for a permanent role.
The client has more than four decades of experience in operating advanced offshore production systems and executing complex projects. They have executed 40 FPSO and FSO projects.
The client is actively engaged in the energy transition by developing clean energy production solutions, applying its offshore engineering and operations capabilities to drive future value creation. Our aim is to create tailored energy solutions for evolving global energy markets.
The client is looking for an experienced Purchaser to join our Supply Chain team, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day procurement, expediting and control of the entire supply chain from requisition until delivery on board the FPSO.
This role is an onshore position, working Monday to Friday, and will be based in Darwin, Northern Territory.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Consolidate as many regular orders as possible and keep the number of deliveries and cost of freight and custom handling to a minimum, by liaising with freight forwarder, client and logistics at country of operation when required.
• Assure quality, suitability of spares and equipment purchased, in close liaison with adequate departments/ division
• Apply thorough cost control on all goods quoted, purchased and supplied under his/her responsibility
• Assist other departments with detailed information about logistic and purchasing matters if/ when requested
• Enforce offshore unit management to follow Company’s policies and Procedures in Supply Chain matter/s.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Relevant qualification in Purchasing and/or Logistics Administration is desirable but not essential
• Demonstrated experience in Purchasing within the oil and gas industry
• A strong working knowledge and understanding of ERP systems
• Good understanding of contracts is highly desirable
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Proactive and motivated team player
• Flexible and ability to work well under pressure
• Solution orientated; process driven with good negotiation skills
• Knowledge of the local supply market for the oil and gas industry and international oil and gas supplier market is desirable
• Familiarity with oil and gas industry terminology
