Are you an experienced procurement professional with strong technical knowledge and a commercial mindset? As our organization continues to grow and enhance its purchasing capabilities, we are seeking a Senior Technical Buyer to take a specialist role within our procurement team. In this position, you will be responsible for managing both the strategic and operational procurement of technical goods and services, collaborating closely with the Head of Procurement , procurement colleagues, and internal departments to streamline processes, ensure compliance, and secure high-quality, cost-effective sourcing that supports our offshore operations efficiently and reliably.

Role Overview
As Senior Technical Buyer, you hold senior responsibility within the Procurement Department and report directly to the Procurement Manager. You will act as a technical procurement expert, contributing to the development and optimization of procurement strategies and processes. You will collaborate intensively with procurement colleagues and internal stakeholders such as the Technical Department, Operations and Crewing, to ensure sourcing activities align with technical requirements and operational demands of our offshore fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the purchase and sourcing activities of technical goods, consumables, and vessel-related supplies to ensure timely and high-quality support for offshore operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Procurement and Procurement colleagues to continuously improve purchasing policies and workflows by implementing best practices and process optimizations.
  • Negotiate contracts, framework agreements, and service level agreements with suppliers, ensuring compliance and optimal conditions.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality, safety, and delivery reliability tailored to offshore operational needs.
  • Support contract management and supplier performance evaluation, implementing improvements when necessary.
  • Align procurement activities with the technical and operational departments to meet fleet maintenance and project requirements.
  • Monitor market developments and pricing trends relevant to technical procurement.
  • Ensure accurate procurement administration and reporting.
  • Actively participate in relevant industry and network meetings, conferences, and supplier events to stay informed of trends, innovations, and benchmark procurement practices.
  • Contribute proactively to knowledge sharing within the team and drive continuous improvement initiatives for the procurement function.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for departmental growth and professionalization.

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Supply Chain, Logistics Engineering or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical procurement, preferably with exposure to offshore or maritime sectors.
  • Strong commercial insight with excellent negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and cross-functionally with different departments.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with ERP systems and contract management.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
