Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Network Security Analyst Contractor to join our team in Irving, TX, for a 12-month contract. The ideal candidate will have prior analyst experience monitoring and configuring Palo Alto firewalls, Extrahop Reveal(x) network security monitoring tool, and Cloudflare. This role involves supporting the team in various tasks to ensure the security and operational efficiency of our network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze security alerts and alarms generated by Palo Alto firewalls, Extrahop Reveal(x), and Cloudflare to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Continuously monitor logging telemetry for security and operational issues that may not be surfaced through standard alerting mechanisms. Work with the team to configure new alerts and alarms into ServiceNow or similar as needed.
  • Develop, configure, and fine-tune security rules and configurations to enhance the effectiveness of our security monitoring tools.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and address coverage gaps and misconfigurations in the network security infrastructure.
  • Assist with working tickets within ServiceNow.
  • Prepare and deliver regular status reports to leadership, highlighting key findings, trends, and recommendations.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the team and ensure the security of the network.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with Palo Alto firewalls
  • Experience with Extrahop Reveal(x) and Cloudflare or a comparable technology.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices related to firewalls and network security monitoring.
  • Experience in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security alerts and incidents.
  • Ability to configure and fine-tune security rules and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as PCNSA, Network , or similar
  • Experience with other network security tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation for security tasks.
