EngineeringWe currently have a very exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical/ Rotating Equipment Engineer to join SLB.
SLB designs, engineers and fabricates specialist oil, gas, equipment packages and facilities.
The position of Senior Mechanical/Rotating Equipment Engineer will act as lead on medium, large and complex/critical projects taking full ownership of all Mechanical/Rotating Equipment engineering activities. Your main responsibilities will be responsible for other types of mechanical packages. You will be responsible for leading, undertaking and delegating/managing engineering activities and deliverables within the team. You will work closely with the Project Engineering Manager, other engineering disciplines and other project support functions to execute the project in accordance with the as sold requirement and Client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Evaluate customer enquiries and specifications and select or recommend equipment type, and mechanical system designs for the application. Includes determining the required scope of work to be provided and developing the best strategy to win the technical proposal.
• Work closely with team members and other engineering departments in project execution to ensure work is carried out within project specifications.
• Produce data sheets, specifications and technical requisitions for major buy out equipment (static, rotating and packaged) and ancillaries such as mechanical seal systems, lubrication systems, drivers and gearboxes
• Work with Vendors to size and select equipment to match specifications or clearly define differences (clarifications or exceptions list) to customer.
• Technically evaluate vendor quotations to meet required application and specifications.
• Review and comment on vendor documentation.
• Comment as relevant on documentation produced by other disciplines and their Vendors.
• Support multiple concurrent projects.
• Attend client clarification and kick off meetings as required.
• Attend Vendor bid clarification meetings, kick off meetings and design review meetings as required
• Visit vendors and fabricators during pre-award, manufacture and factory acceptance testing
• Assist in Producing Installation, operating (Start-up and Shut-down) & Maintenance Instruction manuals, including lists for Consumables, Special Tools, Lubricants, and Utilities.
• Produce training materials and run training sessions as required.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting.
• Advise and assist Construction Managers, QA/QC, Logistics and Sub-suppliers with the interpretation and clarification of documents
• Develop in-depth knowledge of all SLB WEC Equipment products and their technical design features and application.
• Provide input to the "Lessons learned" process and utilize findings from the process to update tools and processes.
• Follow engineering project schedule, coordinate design work with the global resource as applicable, input to man-hour estimates and utilize MOC process.
• Contribute to the development of SLB Mechanical Engineering procedures.
• Knowledge share in the development of others.
Minimum qualification & experience
• Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree (BEng or BSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Civil-Structural Engineering or equivalent 10+ years' experience within Oil and Gas; Or Master (MEng or MSc) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, with 10+ years' experience within Oil and Gas
• Preferred Chartered Engineer Status.
• Familiar with ASME B&PV Code Section VIII, Div.1/2, EN 13445 and PD5500 Code and ASME B.31-3 Standards.
• Familiar with API standards and guidelines for pumps and other rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of national and international codes and standards for oil field process equipment design, shop fabrication procedures, inspection and NDE requirements, shipping preparation and terms, and field installation and start-up procedures.
• Good knowledge of either static equipment or rotating equipment or packaged equipment for the oil and gas industry
• Highly competent in specification and evaluation of rotating equipment.
• Significant experience with witness inspections, performance testing and factory acceptance testing of rotating equipment.
• Clear understanding of the various raw material types, grades and selection criteria.
• Experience/skill with multidiscipline project engineering functions.
Experience with TopDrive, Drawworks, Autocad and/or Solidworks.
