EngineeringThe Sr. Generation Engineer will oversee the Predictive/Preventive Maintenance Programs at plants owned and/or operated by Oglethorpe Power. The incumbent will be responsible for planning such efforts as minor generator outages and the design, selection, and implementation of new mechanical systems at Oglethorpe Plants. The incumbent will assist in planning, reviewing, and monitoring annual maintenance inspections and write annual reports at facilities owned and/or operated by Oglethorpe Power. The incumbent will provide business, administrative, and technical support for Plant Managers and other personnel as needed, including the design of new plant systems, modifications to existing plant systems, planning, budgeting, and performance analysis for facilities owned and/or operated by Oglethorpe Power. The incumbent will assist with development and execution of Capital Projects. The incumbent will also provide services, such as the review of drawings, specifications, design memoranda, etc., to generation projects in development or under construction.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology (preferably BSME) - Technical and business knowledge of generating plant operation, performance, and economics.
Experience:
Equivalent Experience:
Specialized Skills: Creativity; ability to organize and manage time well and to work with autonomy; good interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication abilities; good technical and business analytical skills; PC fluency. Ability to work directly with the Plant Manager and senior plant staff.
Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred and valid driver's license that meets the insurance requirements under Oglethorpe Power's Drivers Qualification Program. Level II Vibration Analyst certification desired.
Unusual Hours: The generating plants operate on a 24-hour basis. At his or her discretion, the incumbent may elect to remain on-site around-the clock during forced outages, maintenance outages, or to attend plant meetings which occur outside normal office hours. The incumbent is on 24-hour call in the event of incidents that affect the operation, rating, or reliability of the Corporation's generating assets.
Travel: 40%
Job Duties:
- Planning such efforts as minor equipment outages and coordinating the design, selection, and installation of major new equipment and systems.
- Oversee the Predictive/Preventive Maintenance Programs at plants owned/operated or contracted to operate by Oglethorpe Power.
- Review and monitor annual mechanical inspections at facilities owned/operated or contracted to operate by Oglethorpe Power.
- Serve as the OPC technical expert in mechanical engineering and predictive and preventive maintenance.
- Provide business, administrative, and technical support for plant managers and other personnel as needed, including the design of new plant systems or modifications to existing plant systems, planning, budgeting, and performance analysis for facilities operated and maintained by OPC.
- Provide services, such as the review of drawings, specifications, design memoranda, etc., to generation projects in development or under construction.
- Assist with the development and execution of Capital Projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology (preferably BSME) - Technical and business knowledge of generating plant operation, performance, and economics.

- Sr Generation Engineer: 10+ years minimum engineering and five years minimum preventive and predictive maintenance experience in an operating commercial electric power generating plant is required, including planning, budgeting, preventive and predictive maintenance, and maintenance analysis.
Equivalent Experience:
- Sr. Generation Engineer: Fourteen years' support experience for an operating commercial electric power generating plant, including planning, budgeting, preventive and predictive maintenance, and maintenance analysis.
