Position Overview:
We are working on behalf of our client, a large global engineering consultancy, to recruit for the role of Engineering Manager for a subsea SURF project in Southeast Asia. This key leadership role requires an experienced Engineering Manager with a demonstrated track record in managing multi-disciplinary teams for complex SURF and Oil & Gas projects. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in engineering management, including managing the design and execution of projects in the subsea environment, with a focus on offshore and floating facilities integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a multi-discipline engineering team throughout the design and execution phases of the subsea SURF project.
- Manage and oversee the engineering activities for the project, ensuring that the technical aspects meet the required standards and satisfy client expectations.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies, plans, and procedures for the project, ensuring efficient execution from design to completion.
- Supervise the design and specification of subsea systems, risers, umbilicals, pipelines, and their interfaces with floating facilities, including FPSO/FPU.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements in the subsea engineering design and execution phases.
- Oversee technical assessments, design reviews, and technical coordination between multiple disciplines, ensuring seamless integration and project delivery.
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, reporting on progress, risks, and technical challenges to senior management.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technical teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Work closely with client teams and stakeholders to ensure that the project meets all technical, safety, and environmental standards.
- Ensure effective interfacing with other SURF systems and floating facilities, including FPSO, FPU, and other related equipment.
- Manage and review the design for key engineering challenges, including pipeline design in seismic zones, continental slope crossings, and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering-related field (advanced degree preferred). Chartered Engineer status or registered professional engineer status within a recognized engineering institution is highly desirable.
- At least 20 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, with at least 10 years in engineering management roles.
- A minimum of 15 years' experience in SURF projects, including a strong background in subsea systems and offshore project design and execution.
- Proven experience as an Engineering Manager for at least two SURF projects during the FEED or detailed engineering phase of EPCI.
- Strong knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices for subsea and offshore systems design.
- Extensive experience with the integration of subsea systems and floating facilities (FPSO, FPU, etc.).
- Experience managing and overseeing projects with complex interface requirements, including pipeline design in seismic zones and continental slope crossings.
- Proven experience with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies and subsea pipeline design in challenging environments.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage diverse, multi-disciplinary teams and ensure high-quality, on-time project delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing large-scale, multi-well subsea facilities and deepwater projects.
- Knowledge and experience working with high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) environments and other challenging subsea conditions.
