Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group is primarily focused on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
What are we looking for?
The Senior Forensics Engineer is responsible for managing/performing multiple simultaneous forensic assignments within architectural, engineering and construction disciplines. This position will travel at least 50% of the time.

What you will do:
- Manage/perform multiple simultaneous forensic assignments within architectural, engineering and construction disciplines, as technically qualified for same, including but not limited to:
- Obtaining and reviewing available public information and relevant technical data.
- Coordination, scheduling and execution of on-site inspections, including scoping and budgeting.
- Collection and preservation of field collected data and physical evidence, when authorized for the same.
- Review and detailed analysis of other provided documents, drawings, sketches, codes, standards, etc., as relevant to the scope of the investigation.
- Development of expert opinions to be expressed verbally and/or in writing.
- Performance of technical reviews of the expert opinion work of others.
- Preparation of clear, correct and concise expert reports for use in claims handling and/or litigation support.
- Maintenance of files, records, photographs, etc. in preparation for, and response to, subpoenas.
- Providing expert witness testimony in depositions, trials, arbitrations, mediations, etc., including preparation of demonstrative exhibits as needed to clearly convey complex ideas to a lay audience.
- Provide added value services for clients, such as:
- Development and execution of written testing protocols relevant to forensic investigations.
- Preparation of repair recommendations, diagrammatic sketches, and assist with cost estimates.
- Build and maintain repeat client relationships, based on trust, confidence and unwavering ethics.
- Actively contribute the growth and development of additional technical competencies within the Forensics Services Department, including mentoring of junior staff.
- Assist in business development, marketing and sales efforts related to Forensic Services, including technical presentations made to clients and trade industry groups, as requested.
- Continue the local development of Forensics Services throughout the state of Florida.
- Local and overnight travel, as required for assigned projects and tasks, could be frequent.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- BS in engineering
- 5+ years' experience in forensic consulting
- Florida P.E.
- Strong background, technical skills and independent judgment related to residential and commercial construction processes, practices, codes, standards, and materials
- Experience with managing staff, both technical and administrative, required
- Must be able to demonstrate solid organization and communication skills, both in written and verbal forms, with many different types of people
- Strong computer and technology skills are required
- Must be able to maintain attention to detail and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Physical condition must permit carrying up to 50 pounds, bending, crouching, and ladder access to roof levels
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time or more - some air travel also required
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
- Additional states and/or NCEES/NCARB record are pluses - General Contractor's license and/or safety certifications also a plus
- Spanish fluency is a plus
- Testing methods and standards knowledge and CAD/BIM/structural analysis platform competencies are pluses
- Experience on scaffolding, aerial booms, confined spaces, etc. are pluses
