Role Overview:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions for process package designs. You will lead mechanical engineering efforts on projects, oversee technical deliverables, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Engineering: Lead the design of mechanical systems and equipment for process packages, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and project requirements.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring the accuracy and quality of deliverables.
- Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and external stakeholders to align project objectives and schedules.
- Package Engineering: Oversee the design, specification, and selection of equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, compressors, and pumps for process packages.
- Vendor Liaison: Engage with vendors and suppliers for equipment selection, technical clarifications, and ensuring timely delivery of packages.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure designs adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including ASME, API, and Australian codes and standards.
- Review and Approvals: Perform technical reviews of drawings, calculations, and specifications, and approve final deliverables.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to processes and tools to enhance efficiency and quality in project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (recognized by Engineers Australia).
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within the Oil & Gas sector, with significant experience in process package design.
- Proficient in industry-standard design tools (e.g., PV Elite, ANSYS, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Strong understanding of Australian and international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AS).
- Proven track record in delivering engineering projects within budget and schedule constraints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or eligibility to obtain certification is preferred.
