We're seeking a Lead Engineer, Batteries & Energy Storage to help shape the technology roadmap and strategy for batteries and energy storage solutions through groundbreaking advancements in our global HVAC+R systems. As part of our Electrical Systems and Components (ESC) team, you'll drive the development and integration of key energy storage technologies, driving growth strategies and supporting the company's electrification and decarbonization initiatives. Base Salary: $120,000 - $160,000
Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an incentive plan.

Where is the work:

What you will do:
- Develop and execute technology roadmap and strategy for energy storage technologies in partnership with our global business units positioning Trane Technologies as a market leader in sustainable and advanced HVAC solutions.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge technologies.
- Serve as the global SME for battery and energy storage technologies domain.
- Lead development and integration of advanced battery and energy storage technologies into business product portfolios.
- Drive innovation in materials, chemistries, and architectures for energy storage solutions.
- Develop and oversee design, prototyping, testing, and validation of battery and energy storage systems and components.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with external entities.
- Partner with relevant global suppliers, enabling design/part reuse, second life & supporting effective procurement and circularity strategy(s)
- Influence technical direction through collaboration with cross-functional teams, external associations and stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers and technical professionals collaboratively across geographies in this domain.
- Effectively utilize continuous improvement tools to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and improvement.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of milestones while providing effective status communications.
- Allocate resources effectively and prioritize initiatives.
- Collaborate with external partners, research institutions, and industry leaders to stay at the forefront of technological advancements and sustainability practices, to execute long-term, externally funded R&D projects.
- Lead the evaluation of new and innovative technologies, either as disruptive competition or prospective new products or services for the company. Drive proof-of-concept testing and feasibility assessment for new battery and energy storage technologies and application areas.
- Travel internationally/domestically as needed.
What you will bring:
- A minimum of bachelor's degree in electrical or chemical engineering. Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
- Over 8 years' professional experience in battery technology and energy storage systems
- Proven track record of leading development and commercialization of advanced technologies.
- Experience in HVAC systems and integration with energy storage solutions is highly desirable
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

- Advanced project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and allocate resources effectively.

- Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing domain expertise within global technical teams.
- Collaboration and Partnership Building:
- Ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with external research institutions, industry leaders, and technology providers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence technical direction and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Innovation and Problem-Solving:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on innovative solutions.
- Knowledge of digital technologies, data analytics, and IoT for optimizing energy storage systems.
- Basic understanding of relevant agency standards, including ISO262 functional safety, EMC compliance. Knowledge of relevant battery or energy storage standards.
