ETAP, a member of Schneider Electrical Energy Management Software Division is seeking a senior power system software engineer with extensive knowledge of design, modeling and analysis of power system transients, electrical machines, harmonics, short-circuit, and power electronics. Responsibilities and Duties
  • Research, design, write specifications and prototype various power system algorithms and device models.
  • Support and lead the development of electrical engineering simulation engines for load flow, short circuit, harmonics, transient stability.
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining, and improving existing software.
  • Collaborating with management, departments, and customers to identify end-user requirements and specifications.
  • Lead transformational initiatives such as migration to future software architectures and cloud engineering software deployment.

Qualifications
  • Experience in modeling and analyzing power system load flow, dynamics, short-circuit, or harmonics analysis engines.
  • Capabilities to research, design, and testing of various power system simulation models.
  • Ability to follow various industrial standards and write specifications.
  • Strong linear algebra practical knowledge as applied to electrical engineering and knowledge of applied differential equations for electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to program in mathematical computation languages such as Fortran, C++, and C#.
  • Highly motivated, self-managed, detail-oriented and well organized.
  • Good mathematical problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • It is desirable to have experience in unbalanced power system modeling, electromagnetic transients and power electronics.

Preferred Additional Skills
  • Desirable to have experience using power system simulation software such as ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, Power World, EMTP, PSCAD
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot software algorithm problems
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal since the position expects some product presentations

Education
  • PhD (preferred) or MS Degree in Power System Engineering or Electrical Machinery with graduate work on simulation software.
  • MS in computer science with a strong understanding of electrical systems and 5+ years of experience will be considered.
