Wood is recruiting a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pipe Stress Engineer to join our team in the oil and gas sector
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex pipe stress analysis and engineering tasks to ensure the integrity and reliability of piping systems in various projects. The candidate must be able to justify and defend their design if challenged by the client. This role requires a deep understanding of industry standards, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Wood is recruiting a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pipe Stress Engineer to join our team in the oil and gas sector
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex pipe stress analysis and engineering tasks to ensure the integrity and reliability of piping systems in various projects. The candidate must be able to justify and defend their design if challenged by the client. This role requires a deep understanding of industry standards, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct detailed pipe stress analysis using industry-standard software (Caesar II) to evaluate the structural integrity of piping systems under various loading conditions.
- Develop and review piping flexibility studies and provide recommendations for modifications and improvements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME/ANSI B31.3, API).
- Performs analysis of nozzle loads / stress on vessels using WRC 107/297 capability of CAESAR II program.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including stress reports, design calculations, and material specifications.
- Collaborate with project engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to develop efficient piping designs and solutions.
- Develop, track, and manage line lists, size/specify piping, and assist the PDMS/E3D designers with routing decisions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and client consultations to provide expert insights and recommendations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of best practices, standards, and procedures for pipe stress analysis and engineering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve pipe stress-related issues during the design, construction, and commissioning phases of projects.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and software developments to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
- Interface directly with client. May act in an advisory capacity to client personnel on engineering related matters.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (BSME is preferred)
- 10+ years in Oil & gas, Petrochemical and/or Energy
- Strong interpersonal communication and analytical skills
- Excellent in pipe stress software operation (CAESAR II) and Nozzle Pro
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc..)
- Hands-on experience is 3D Software is an advantage (AVEVA E3D, Navisworks, etc..)
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
Minimum Experience:
- Demonstrable balance of industrial and management experience at relevant level and position
- Good knowledge of the relevant Piping & Plant Layout, piping codes and standards like ASME, API, etc.
- Knowledgeable and broad experience with industry standard stress analysis software (CAESAR II)
- Highly experienced piping engineer with sound technical background and expertise
- Experience with detailed design project (EPC) execution

- Perform pipe stress analysis per applicable ASME codes and standards
- Ability to design and select standard and special pipe supports. Spring hangers, flexible, and expansion joints for piping systems as will as preparation of technical datasheets, and purchase specifications
- Ability to prepare stress isometric drawings from CAESAR II and to modify the drawings by AutoCAD
- Develop static and dynamic piping stress analysis and define efficiently the piping layout and piping supports in order to provide enough flexibility to the design system
- Prepare Pipe Stress analysis report
- Understand the project design basis for the criticality of the piping and prepare the stress critical line list
- Performs calculations of critical piping networks
- Issues projects piping stress specification and critical line list
- Responsible for the development of pipe support standards
- Interdisciplinary coordination with Civil, Structural and Mechanical, design teams to ensure appropriate design inputs are incorporated to meet scope requirements
- Checks documents issued by Junior Piping Stress Engineers
- Participate and provide input in risk management, value engineering and constructability work scopes
- Provide mentorship, training and guidance for Junior Engineers
