Kent is looking for a Pipe Stress / Mechanical Engineer to be based in the Baytown, TX office.

You will interact with other disciplines and groups, corporate technical networks and peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed to successfully implement and start up new equipment installations and revamps. Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Performs piping flexibility analysis (static and dynamic) for critical piping systems during preliminary design and detailed design phase of Project.
  • Prepare complete documentation of the stress analysis and support design.
  • Identify different stress packages through review of P&IDs / Line Designation tables.
  • Locate and identify pipe supports on isometrics along with type of supports.
  • Provide pipe loading information to Civil/Structure.
  • Review and sign-off piping isometrics considering flexibility and supporting.
  • Provides technical direction and assigns work to designers, and drafters who assist on specific assignments.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, data sheets and specifications for static equipment.
  • Prepare technical bid evaluations for static equipment.
  • Review supplier drawings and data during detail design phase.
  • Provide field verification and support for mechanical execution as required.
  • Work closely with the Project team and the assigned Lead ME to understand the priorities of work.


In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Qualification/ Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.
  • PE in Texas is Preferred.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in oil/gas industry in piping / fixed equipment.
  • Able and willing to work on site at the ExxonMobil Baytown Refinery.
Skills Requirement:
  • Knowledgeable of applicable codes and standards (ASME Sec VIII, B31.3, B31.1, API).
  • Familiar with design software (Caesar II, Compress, PRG FEA, Mathcad).
  • Ability to coordinate with other groups to complete work and ensure progress on deliverables.
  • Able to adapt to tight deadlines and changes in priorities.
Communication:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with other teams and management on work progress, barriers, priorities.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
  • Ability to be self-managed and achieve project objectives on a high volume of work.
