The Opportunity:
Kent is looking for a Principal Engineer - Project Controls to be based in India.
Skills and Responsibilities:
• Be the focal point for the project in the coordination and management of all basic and detail planning and scheduling of the Project (including the development and
production of detailed plans/schedules for FEED Design, Basic Design, Detail Design & Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Pre-commissioning, and commissioning
of the project through to successful completion using current planning techniques and tools).
• Provide leadership, technical direction, and hands-on guidance to other planners.
• Participate and establish the project overall execution strategy planning for management level.
• Assure proficiency in all aspects of planning, scheduling, establish control procedures, resource allocation, progress planning, measuring, and monitoring.
• Ensure all planning, scheduling and progress measurement actions and activities are carried out in keeping with all the relative and accepted procedures, specifications,
and instructions.
• Interface with all disciplines, subcontractors, and client representatives at a senior level regarding planning coordination and integration Develop a Logic Network
Schedule applying Primavera and implement effective planning and progress measurement process, providing management with recommendations, and the tools, to
aid decision making and reporting.
• Interface with other project control functions and project control team leaders to maintain and where possible streamline work processes.
• Lead in the development of the Project Work Breakdown Structure.
• Monitoring & controlling of project budget.
• Take ownership of project planning and scheduling process systems and reporting obligations
• Perform extensive critical path reviews, assessments, and mitigations once per month after schedule and progress status updates.
• Manage interface with Cost, Cash flow and Forecasting.
• Identify the schedule risks and re-baseline, if necessary.
• Analyse probabilities and determine schedule impact of changes.
• Execute the project probability analysis and make reports.
• Lead the preparation of Weekly and Monthly Project Report, Backlog analysis, Ageing analysis for internal stakeholders and client.
• Develop & administer the project change control process and communicate implication of changes in project schedule. Steward the overall Change Management
process.
• As part of Central Planning, schedule monthly management meetings for projects/programs and monitor the actions items and report deviations if any.
• Develop and monitor individual skills through a matrix and identify training needs to develop the junior team members to upgrade themselves.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
Degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical) from Indian University (UGC approved) or from Overseas University. Professional Certification is an added advantage.
Communication:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to articulate technical challenges and progress effectively.
• Proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
• Capability to lead a group responsible for control of planning, scheduling, cost control and cost estimating activities.
• Strong Engineering (technical) competence.
• Knowledge of Project-Planning is a must.
• Computer Applications: Windows Operating systems.
• Software- Knowledge of Primavera P6 is a must.
• Working as per the Quality and Safety requirement & Standards.
• Adopting a flexible and open approach towards the needs of Projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Independent and proactive work ethic.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a global, multicultural environment.
• Flexibility in working hours to accommodate different time zones.
