Position Overview:
The Process Control Engineer provides process control and automation support to ensure the operation produces product that meets all quality, cost, and efficiency requirements to a 24/7 manufacturing facility. This role will identify ways to improve safety, quality, yields, and the capability of existing processes while also assisting in the scale up and implementation of developmental products/processes using process control and automation. Core challenges include leading continuous process improvement to drive Key Performance Indicators for the operation, to meet goals established by the business along with providing technical guidance to the operations team, and to assist with process troubleshooting along with developing corrective action plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Day to Day Support (Operations, Instrument / Electrical, DCS)
• Support Operations on day-to-day issues. This includes providing technical guidance on PID and Device controller operations, interlocks, alarms, operator station issues, minor HMI graphic changes etc.
• Support Instrument Techs on day-to-day issues, instrument calibrations, and function tests. This includes providing loop sheets, addresses and calibration ranges, troubleshooting instrument and DCS I/O faults.
• Review CPM logs for PID Controllers in Experion to determine any loops that require tuning or whether control elements need replacement. Work with Operations to perform open loop tuning.
• Review system alarms and errors for DeltaV, Experion, Safety Manager and HC-900 PLC (e.g. I/O, Channel or Controller Failures; Syncing Issues; SCADA Communication Errors).
• Review CPU Loading for Controllers for DeltaV and Experion
• Perform system back-ups as needed
• Review Uniformance and PHD Servers for system, RDI or tag health issues
• Review alarm reports with Operations Engineers to drive down nuisance alarms
• Support site MOC process and Root Cause Investigations
• Participate in PHAs (Process Hazard Analysis).
• Creation of process control algorithms to improve existing control strategies.
• Support Capital Projects from an instrumentation and controls standpoint. This includes project documentation tasks such as : creating instrument specification sheets; redlining motor elementary diagrams, loop sheets and P&IDs; developing controls narrative and an instrument index/ I/O list;
• Implementation of controls and creation of Operator HMIs in DeltaV and Experion PKS;
• Perform function testing, loop checking of new control strategies. Build new points in PHD for trending.
• Support Automated Packaging Equipment

Must Haves
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility
• Experience with DCS and Process Control(s)
