Position Overview
The Commissioning Engineer represents electrical commissioning for the project team from the estimating process all the way to project completion. The Commissioning Engineer will participate in various project meetings to engage with the project team and perform electrical commissioning reviews during estimating, engineering, procurement, and construction phases. Further, the role will require supporting the onsite project commissioning team by drafting procedures and assisting onsite with major milestones in commissioning and project startup.
It is understood that the Commissioning Engineer, while they may be conversant with the process, will not likely be considered an SME in all process technologies and disciplines. For this reason, the engineer will act as a conduit to CSU Technical Services Managers (or delegated Advisors) who are SMEs in the particular technology, or discipline, to assist with the commissioning process whenever required. Deliverables may include equipment commissioning checklists, commissioning procedures, electrical testing specifications, start-up philosophies, and presentation material.
The Commissioning Engineer will be required to review the project electrical design deliverables throughout the project lifecycle and report issues to the relevant parties, the Commissioning Manager, and the Director of Commissioning.

Our staff leads the power markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit's construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.
Location
This position is based in Lenexa, KS.
Responsibilities
• Assist with Design Review for Power, Power Delivery, and Renewable Projects
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for Electrical Equipment (MV, LV Switchgears, Transformers, Relay Panels, etc.)
• Develop Electrical Initial Energization Procedures (Switchyard, Back-feed, Switchgears, Initial Synch, etc.)
• Travel to project site for short duration as needed to carry out audit, review energization plan, and assist with major energization evolution if needed
• Work with projects start-up team with onsite activities such as the following if needed
• Familiarity with component testing and commissioning aspects of following major electrical equipment & protection scheme will be an added advantage:
Qualifications
• Must have a minimum of 2+ years of related experience in the areas of Power Plants, Substations, or Renewable Energy
• Familiar with protective relays, electrical control, and protection scheme
• Must be familiar with NETA, IEEE Testing standards
• Must be able familiar with NFPA 70E and able to demonstrate safe electrical troubleshooting skills
