About this role:
A Generator Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various types of generators. The technician ensures that generators are running efficiently and reliably to provide backup power for operations. The role requires a solid understanding of electrical systems, mechanical systems, and safety procedures to ensure proper functioning and prevent system failures.
You will diagnose issues, perform necessary repairs or replacements, and communicate effectively with homeowners to explain problems and solutions. Strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service are key to succeeding in this position.

You will diagnose issues, perform necessary repairs or replacements, and communicate effectively with homeowners to explain problems and solutions. Strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service are key to succeeding in this position.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Install new generators, ensuring they are correctly placed and connected to necessary systems.
- Conduct initial testing to verify correct generator operation after installation.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on generators, including checking oil levels, fuel systems, filters, batteries, and coolant systems.
- Replace worn-out parts such as belts, filters, and spark plugs, ensuring proper generator performance.
- Clean and maintain generator equipment and associated control systems.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in generators and associated systems.
- Repair or replace damaged components, including wiring, alternators, engines, and control panels.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to analyze faults and recommend solutions.
- Run tests to ensure that generators are operating correctly, and all systems are functional.
- Calibrate equipment to meet the required specifications for optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed records of service, repairs, and maintenance performed on each generator.
- Generate reports and provide updates to management on the condition and performance of the generators.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures when working with electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ensure generators meet all applicable regulatory standards and certifications.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers regarding generator operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Respond to emergency service requests in a timely and professional manner.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of electrical experience, preferably with a focus on residential projects.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and control systems in generators.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing generator components.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including reading schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues efficiently and safely.
- Proficient in using diagnostic and maintenance tools for generators.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and creativity as a collaborative team player.
- Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills to address and resolve electrical issues.
- A positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- A valid driver's license with a least 3 years of driving experience
- The physical ability to lift to 50 lbs. as required by the job

- The physical requirements of this job include tasks such as lifting weights (e.g., pounds regularly and occasionally), climbing ladders, accessing attics, navigating tight spaces, driving, entering crawlspaces, pushing, carrying, pulling, using hand tools, and performing fine detail work. The role also involves working in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, attics, crawlspaces, and exposure to extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions such as rain or snow.
