We are currently seeking a Piping Lead, reporting directly to the Department Manager to join our Engineering team based in Claremont, CA.
Summary:
A Piping Lead is an engineering professional who will be responsible in overseeing all aspects of piping design and engineering on a project, including managing a team of piping designers, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures, coordinating with other disciplines, and delivering high-quality piping drawings and documentation. You will develop work processes, procedures and standards and perform training. You must have strong working knowledge of discipline design requirements to create layout of overall plant facilities, place equipment and process unit in the plot. Capacity to interface with clients, project managers and engineers, other disciplines and project controls on large and small, single or multi-discipline projects.

You will develop work processes, procedures and standards and perform training. Capacity to interface with clients, project managers and engineers, other disciplines and project controls on large and small, single or multi-discipline projects.
Key Duties:
- Lead the design and development of piping systems including plot plan, layout, material selection, and support design.
- Review and approve piping drawings, isometrics and calculations produced by the team including those in HVECs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards, project specifications, and company policies and procedures.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
- Coordination with all other disciplines to ensure seamless integration and deliver clash free and good quality design.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand project requirements and address concerns.
- Lead and mentor a team of piping designers and engineers both in-person or online.
- Occasional trips to Client offices for design reviews and/or occasional field trip to plant sites for field walk-down and inspection.
Qualifications:
Motivated, creative, quality focused applicants with:
- a minimum of 15 years piping layout and design experience in the refinery/petrochemical industry.
- Strong supervisory skills with a minimum of five years of experience as piping lead.
- Working knowledge of typical industry codes and standards applicable to plant design and piping such as ASME B31.1/B31.3, ASTM, API, MSS, and PIP.
- Preferably have an engineering degree but not a must.
- Proficient in the use of Intergraph SmartPlant Review software and Navisworks.
- Strong knowledge of Intergraph S3D and Microstation applications.
- Strong estimating capabilities both materials, man-hours and scheduling.
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Is willing to travel overseas to HVEC and other locations as necessary to support the project.
- Experience in process plant revamps, constructability reviews and turnaround planning a plus.
