Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is looking for Lead Mechanical Engineer - Expression of interest (Expatriate) with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry to join our Operations business on a 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, based in Atyrau, Kazakhstan.

QUALIFICATIONS
As part of the regional requirements for obtaining work permits, you must hold a relevant Engineering degree qualification. Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is advantageous but not essential.
What will set you apart will be proven FEED and Greenfields gas processing facility experience working in a similar role. Relevant project experience in Kazakhstan is also advantagous but not essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and coordinates the work of engineers of the mechanical department
- Places and appropriately utilizes employees
- Monitors employees' compliance with safety and labour protection, fire safety requirements, operational and labour discipline
- Organizes competence development of site employees
- Developing requirement Work Packs
- Co-ordination and management of site surveys
- Analysing and presenting site survey results
- Review of specifications and drawings produced by the LLP
- Ensure safety in design and HSE requirements
- Undertake checking and approval activities in accordance with company procedures
- Coordinates the maintenance of a high standard of work performed throughout the life cycle of the project
- Coordinate all activities and work as requested by Engineering and Project Managers
- The direction, control, supervision and co-ordination of engineering work to ensure timely and consistent delivery
- Perform project site survey visit for data collection
- Recruitment, Selection, Development and coaching of engineering team
- Expert knowledge of engineering methodologies, software systems and design practices relating to FEED, detail design, commissioning and start up within the offshore and onshore oil & gas industry
- Functionally co-ordinates all Project Mechanical Engineers and designers
- Assists in co-ordination of Study scopes of work
- Establishes competency, appraise, and train Mechanical personnel
- Directs Engineering Delivery Mechanical Engineers (all tasks & targets)
- Co-ordinates the Mechanical contribution within multi-discipline designs
- Ensures compliance with relevant codes standards and practices
- QA upon technical work performed by subordinates within Engineering Delivery
- Responsible to ensure a high standard of delivery is maintained, throughout the life cycle of projects
- Organise and manage kick-off and regular progress meetings with discipline engineers and ensure that any required actions are taken and closed out in a timely manner. Will ensure project reporting is timely and accurate
- Responsible to vendors for implementation of hardware and software modpacks and be responsible for resolution of technical queries from site associated with hardware and application development
- Responsible for supporting the delivery of all projects generated documentation that supports project execution and operation of the production facility
- Manage and monitor project budgets, keeping client informed of progress cost and project issues
- Undertake internal QA checks on discipline activities and deliverables
- Ensure adherence to company /client's policies, procedures and core values
- Provides training, mentoring and technical guidance to engineers and designers working in the group
QUALIFICATIONS

- At least 15 years of experience in the oil and gas and/or engineering industry
- At least 10 years old in a similar position
- Higher technical education
- Onshore oil & gas related design experience
- Competent in writing reports
- Familiarity with International Design Guidelines and Standards
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineering specialists
- Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments
- Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates
- Professional level of ability in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution
- Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Technically competent in own discipline, pursues continuous professional development of skills and knowledge according to standards
- Excellent analytical, literacy and numerical skills
- Proven experience managing teams of Engineers
- Excellent communication skills with proven experience in client facing roles
