Wood is currently recruiting for an I&C Commissioning Technician with experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably onshore major capital projects.
The responsibilities of an I&C Technician will depend on the size and scope of the project. I&C Technicians will be responsible for performing the commissioning activities and documentation pertaining to the following controls:

The responsibilities of an I&C Technician will depend on the size and scope of the project. I&C Technicians will be responsible for performing the commissioning activities and documentation pertaining to the following controls:
- Compressor stations.
- Oil or gas measurement facilities.
- Pump station.
- Oil terminal facilities.
- IRMLV sites.
- Safety systems operated by PLC, RTU, DCS, etc.
- Complete reports as required by the Commissioning Lead.
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure all control system commissioning activities are completed in a safe and controlled manner.
- I&C Technician positions are filled by Company employees or commissioning resources.
- Level 1 to 3
RESPONSIBILITIES
CRITICAL SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Be responsible for understanding and executing Woods's Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all phases of the project. Personal safety awareness and team safety awareness are necessary.
Safety
- Shall attend and participate in the daily safety meetings.
- Shall report all Near Misses and Incidents to the Team Lead within 24 hours as per current company Incident Management Process.
- All safety procedures must be followed as per the commissioning procedures.
Quality
- Review with the Team Lead, upcoming Work activities for the proper test equipment, personnel, safety measures, vendor support, and documentation required.
- Support and facilitate a highly effective, collaborative environment with seamless and open communication to the team.
Budget
- Inform Team Lead of any issues that could affect budget.
- Work with Company departments responsible for control system back-up management to ensure it is working and accurate before turnover to Operations.
Schedule
- Capable of making, tracking, and restoring temporary modifications to control system programs.
- This will enable completion of commissioning tests.
- Inform Team Lead of any issues that could affect or cause delays in completion of the Site.
Commissioning Practices
- Review the drawings and procedures prior to starting the assigned work task.
- Complete detailed reports highlighting functional testing as well as other commissioning activities associated with the automation system.
- When requested or instructed, assist the vendors and others with the Work scope for the day.
- Review daily work activities and complete the Work scheduled as set out by the Lead.
- Capable of interpreting written word controls philosophy to controls platform programming code.
- Capable of initial start-up and program load for control system.
- Capable of leading point-to-point testing of control system I/O from end device through PCL/DCS and HMI.
- Capable of troubleshooting and making recommendations on SCADA and HMI addressing issues.
- For Flow Management applications, have knowledge of the flow calculation methods required to be carried out in the control system software.
Documents
- Complete the test sheets on a daily basis for the Work completed that day.
- Capable of documenting point-to-point testing of control system I/O from end device through PCL/DCS and HMI.
- Capable of performing SAT of control system functionality to the Operating Philosophy Document and SAT documentation.
- Create RFI and other engineering interface documents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications for I&C Technicians include the following:
- Adequate training and experience with relevant electrical and equipment systems.
- Related years of experience according to level.
- A journeyman instruments certificate.
Assets would be:
- Specialized training.
- A technical or engineering degree.
Additionally, I&C Technicians must:
- Possess knowledge of all equipment installed on-site, and the ability to locate and understand equipment manuals.
- Be proficient in calibrating smart devices and electrical systems.
- Be able to support commissioning of PLC data points.
