Job Description
Job Profile Summary

Develop, coordinate and maintain programmable process control systems, including: Basic Process Control System (BPCS), Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
    • Manage BPCS, SIS and PLC systems, coordinating all programming, updates, maintenance and tuning
    • Perform and/or coordinate software and hardware maintenance, including repairs and upgrades
    • Develop, test and implement programming changes resulting from new projects and/or process changes, including tuning and optimization
    • Monitor BPCS, SIS and PLC operations and performance, run diagnostics and provide technical support and troubleshooting
    • Design, troubleshoot and analyze various industrial control system networks and communications topologies, such as: Hart, Profibus, Fieldbus, Modbus, Devicenet and Ethernet
    • Proficient in switch and router installation, programming and troubleshooting techniques
    • Develop programs for system improvements and be a key member of any upgrade projects
    • Work closely with operators, process engineers and maintenance techs to ensure smooth, efficient operation of the plants and other facilities
    • Create and modernize control system documentation for plants including, but not limited:
  • Logic diagrams
  • Interlock lists
  • Sequence flow charts
  • Database documentation
  • Control system layout drawings
    • Provide information and assistance to system users, vendors, employees and others relative to system development, design, and/or modification, hardware and software requirements and problem resolution
    • Compile and prepare reports such as: system logs, meter and gas composition reports, budgets, letters to vendors, memorandums and training outlines and manuals
    • Develop and maintain specifications, documentation and procedures for controls processes
    • Oversee third-party contractors
Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, chemical or electrical engineering or a related field plus three or more years of the following job related experience:
Work Experience
    • Experience designing, developing, modifying and installing process control computer system applications, specifically, BPCS, SIS, PLC and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) system software and hardware
    • Experience on DeltaV systems with documented training courses
    • Training and experience relative to:
  • Process control system operations and file structures
  • Designing, coding and networking process control programs
  • Man Machine Interfaces (MMIs)
  • Database management
    • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, computer printouts, system requirements and programs, contracts, manuals, policies and procedures
    • Experience preparing and composing file, record, and screen layouts, reports, project proposals, training outlines, manuals, procedures and correspondence.
    • Experience developing presentations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of: other office and computer equipment applicable to position
    • Knowledge of: loop tuning and advanced control optimization strategies
    • Ability to: apply interpersonal skills, present, demonstrate verbal and written communication, and successfully interact and advise effectively with internal and external business partners at all levels
    • Ability to: apply math, algebra and statistical formulas
    • Ability to: communicate and/or exchange information or instructions; conduct oral presentations and/or meetings
    • Ability to: operate tools and equipment required
