As part of a cross-functional, multi-discipline team the Manufacturing Engineer (ME) will lead our efforts to develop and improve the processes we use to produce these systems in our Downhole Manufacturing Nisku facility. This role will have heavy focus on supporting and improving processes and equipment in our Downhole Manufacturing operation.

This role will have heavy focus on supporting and improving processes and equipment in our Downhole Manufacturing operation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The primary indicator of success in this role will be the robust performance of the processes this ME is accountable for with respect to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC). The most important characteristics for the candidate to possess to deliver this outcome are joint ownership with the area leadership of the success of the processes, a relentless drive for improvement, and excellence in problem solving. The main tasks to achieve this outcome are defining, stabilizing, improving, and supporting the existing processes. Typical activities will include:
- Making timely, systematic improvements to process stability and performance through excellence in the scoping of problems, root cause analysis, experimentation, and the implementation and validation of mitigations. The artifacts of this work will typically be a combination of new or revised process sequences and parameters, tooling, equipment, machine software, work instructions, routers, setup sheets, design of experiment test reports, process qualification reports, product design changes, etc. These activities include responding to and providing support of customer facing and safety issues.
- Applying Lean thinking, tools, such as; Total Production Maintenance (TPM), Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) techniques to reduce waste and improve the flow of value through.
- Making use of classic process science and statistical techniques to reduce process variation, provide insights into defects and modes of failure.
- Providing "second responder" support (after area lead) to resolve technical process issues that production personnel are unable to resolve.
- Systematically evaluating innovative manufacturing process technologies and practicing excellence in project management to implement those technologies.
- Working with product engineering to evaluate the design with respect to manufacturability and providing workable design change suggestions.
- Designing the processes (sequences, methods, tooling, parameters, instructions, etc.) for current product process improvement or process equipment upgrades/replacement.
- Ensuring new process qualification plans are in place and executed in a timely manner.
- Provide training and guidance to production personnel on new processes and equipment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BS Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering Technology or equivalent from accredited university.
- Must demonstrate evidence of acceptable competence in improving the fabrication and/or assembly of mechanical systems.
- Must demonstrate evidence of acceptable competence in systematic problem-solving.
- 5 or more years of experience in manufacturing.
- 3 or more years working directly with production equipment and maintenance thereof.
- 2 or more years with the implementation of Lean thinking and tools.
- Registered as a member in training or a member of APEGA .
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Experience in design and application of precision production tooling
- Proficient in the creation and maintenance of production routers and work instructions.
- Proficient in the project management of problems and projects.
- Proficient in solid modeling, web-based document portals, JD Edwards
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
