Location: Saudi Arabia

Duration: 12 months renewable contract

Working Hours: 6 days x 10 hours for onshore, 7 days x 12 hours for offshore (dual conditions)

Job Description:

The primary mission of the Operation Engineer is to lead the readiness for the vessel operations and be the project representative on board the vessel. During the project preparation phase, the employee shall collaborate with Project Operations Manager and Vessel Asset Manager in order to verify that the suggested procedures are correct, and that the most efficient and cost-effective solutions are implemented. They must as well quickly distinguish the missing points and required optimization of the equipment to be used on board.

During project execution, the employee shall be the reference point between the project team and the Vessel Management Team. They shall be able to suggest modifications and changes leading to improvements considering the suggestions of the on-board management as well as interface with the on-board client representatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC&HSE requirements.
  • Review project documentation, report errors/omissions, and suggest improvements.
  • Assist in liaising with Client Representatives/subcontractors.
  • Monitor progress of work/site conditions and promptly advise if changes to project schedule/execution sequence may occur.
  • Support Vessel Management Team in planning/execution of work/project contractual & technical requirements.
  • Participate in the resolution of any technical problems.
  • Provide operational input/support to onshore project teams.
  • Liaise with Installation/Method Engineers during preparatory/mobilization/installation phase.
  • Review installation procedures/loadout/sea fastening plans for material/structures offshore transportation to ensure safe/timely installation.
  • Ensure completeness of construction materials/consumables lists liaising with Project Coordinator for timely procurement/delivery.
  • Coordinate with Mobile Equipment, Asset, Piptec, ROV, Trenching, precommissioning, Hook-up to ensure that all necessary personnel/equipment are timely available.
  • Witness/inspect pre-rigging/loadouts/sea fastening activities.
  • Identify any deviations from procedures and manage as requested.
  • Coordinate with Fabrication Dept for loadout of fabricated structures/installation aids.
  • Provide input/feedback for engineering close-out report to improve departmental standards/working methods/guidelines.
  • Lead project planning efficiency optimization (installation aids re-use, tensioner pad change-outs, equipment mob/demob, ROV tooling consistency).
  • Coordinate the general preparation and related interfaces with all the departments related to scope (engineering, installation engineering, procurement, post order services, and assets).
  • Follow-up the procurement & logistics of installation aids.
  • Lead the subcontracting activities (i.e., survey & positioning, ROV services, NDT, diving, precommissioning, etc.).
  • Interface with procurement/fabrication departments for the delivery of incorporated items on the offshore site, including transportation vessels preparation associated with the cargo to be provided to the construction vessel.
  • Lead the installation vessel(s) qualification(s) towards the client.
  • Lead the installation vessel project HR preparation.
  • Lead the installation vessel equipment preparation.
  • Lead the mobilization/demobilization preparation of the installation vessel.
  • Attend fabrication facilities to ensure readiness for transportation to site of fabricated items.
  • Coordinate the offshore operation on board the installation vessel as project representative on board.
  • Review and Compile the DPR (Daily Progress Reports) of the vessel activity and progress during the offshore operation.
  • Compile all the required information as per the project requirements for the project close-out and close out of the invoicing process.


Job Specifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Marine or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in offshore construction activities.
  • Offshore experience working with Heavy Lift Vessels (HLV), Pipelay Vessels, Dive Support Vessels (DSV), and Cable Laying Vessels (CLV) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


Special Skills/Knowledge:
  • Familiar with industry codes and standards applicable to offshore Oil & Gas facilities design, construction and Installation
  • Knowledgeable in various offshore pipeline, Jacket and Topside installation techniques and understanding installation factors and criteria which might affect the design, costs and schedule for development of offshore oil fields.
