Welding Coordinator
Location: Papua New Guinea
Employment Type: 4–6 Month Contract

About the Role

A leading organization in the mining sector is seeking a highly experienced Welding Coordinator for a short-term contract to support operations at their site in Papua New Guinea. This role plays a vital part in ensuring welding and welding-related activities meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards, in line with ISO 14731.
The Welding Coordinator will have the authority to oversee all welding-related activities, including compliance with industry regulations, conducting audits, managing non-conformances, and mentoring on-site teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute welding coordination tasks in compliance with ISO 14731.
  • Conduct internal audits on welding quality controls and facilitate external audits.
  • Review project scopes and analyze technical requirements.
  • Identify and nominate NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and weld acceptance criteria.
  • Approve welding procedure specifications and ensure procedures meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain and update the welding procedure database.
  • Ensure welder qualifications are current and compliant with requirements.
  • Manage welding resources and optimize efficiency.
  • Oversee maintenance and calibration of welding equipment.
  • Resolve welding-related non-conformances and facilitate resolutions.
  • Develop detailed welding and inspection plans, including weld mapping and sequencing.
  • Mentor welding supervisors and inspection personnel.
  • Assess and monitor suppliers and subcontractors for compliance.
  • Maintain effective traceability and quality records.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education:
    • International Welding Specialist (IWS), International Welding Technologist (IWT), or International Welding Engineer (IWE).
    • AS 1796 Certificate 10 (Pressure Equipment Welding Supervisor).
    • AS 2214 (Structural Steel Welding Supervisor).
  • Experience:
    • At least 10 years of supervisory/management experience in welding coordination or a related field.
