We are currently seeking a Senior Piping Engineer, to join our team based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. to work on exciting Energy Transition, Circular Economy and Petrochemical projects. As Senior Piping Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the plant layout and piping design effort from conceptual design through construction.

Our Senior Piping Engineer will:
  • Design piping systems for various chemical processes in accordance with industry codes and standards.
  • Develop and maintain specifications for piping materials, piping components, valves, and specialty items
  • Perform pressure design calculations including minimum wall thickness, branch reinforcement, bend/miter fittings pressure capacity, external pressure, hydrostatic test pressure, etc.
  • Perform pipe stress analysis to ensure compliance with applicable codes
  • Optimize plant designs for new grassroots projects and major modifications to existing facilities ensuring compliance with all process design requirements, safety, operations and maintenance.
  • Prepare plot plans, equipment location plans, general arrangements, piping isometrics, and pipe support drawings using 2D drafting or 3D model extraction.
  • Design and model piping layouts, equipment, and preliminary civil/structural in accordance with P&IDs, datasheets, and project specifications.
  • Lead 3D model review meetings with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Assist with the procurement of critical equipment/components and work closely with vendors through fabrication and installation.
  • Occasionally travel to field sites to verify as-built conditions, tie-in points, and provide technical support to the field during construction, pre-commissioning and startup.
  • Support other mechanical engineering roles such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment as needed

Qualifications:
  • BS Mechanical Engineering or higher degree.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of typical industry codes and standards applicable to plant design and piping, such as ASME B31.1/B31.3, ASTM, API, MSS, and PIP.
  • Skilled in 2D and 3D design in AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc. Experience with plant modeling software such as Smart 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or AVEVA E3D a strong plus.
  • Proficient in Smart Review and Navisworks for design reviews.
  • Experience in process plant revamps, constructability reviews, and turnaround planning a plus.
  • Must possess and demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • EIT / PE license or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with commercially available pipe stress software and FEA is a plus.

Salary: $108,000 - $155,000
