This is a hybrid position. Support is required at Lockheed Martin's Highlands Ranch, Colorado facility 2 days a week

Salary range: $120,000.00- $160,000.00 depending on location, experience, education, and certifications that are directly related to the position.

Overview:

The purpose of this position is to work with the prime contractor in developing, designing and analyzing the thermal bus for the Geo-XO spacecraft. This position will support Aegis' contract with Lockheed Martin (LM) in Denver, CO. The thermal systems engineer will work with Lockheed Martin's team supporting the design and developing the thermal model for the Geo-XO Satellite. The candidate will develop the Thermal Desktop model of the bus including building and/or integrating battery, solar array, antenna, heat pipe, propulsion component, Instrument Mounting Platform and instrument thermal models using LM's design processes. Applicants will be responsible for performing thermal analyses to close the Thermal Subsystem design and support all design reviews. This role will also contribute to design review products, review of results, and communicating results effectively to all stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Support requirement definition and development of Thermal Subsystem requirement documentation
  • Develop the Thermal Desktop model of the bus including building and/or integrating battery, solar array, antenna, heat pipe, propulsion component, Instrument Mounting Platform and instrument thermal models
  • Perform Instrument Mounting Platform thermal analysis in support of FEM thermal distortion analysis
  • Perform any other miscellaneous analyses necessary to support Thermal Subsystem design maturation
  • Support spacecraft design trades
  • Support project design reviews (PDR, CDR)
  • Participate in regular team meetings to provide status and coordinate with teammates

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
  • Experience designing and analyzing large spacecraft buses
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with 10+ years' experience in thermal analysis
  • Experience using Thermal Desktop for spacecraft thermal analysis (5+ years preferred)
  • Experience designing spacecraft Thermal Subsystems
  • Experience designing and analyzing spacecraft operating in the GEO environment
  • Experience leading modeling and analysis efforts or willingness to do so
  • Must have US Citizenship.
  • Experienced technical problem solver.
  • Experience with interpersonal skills in a teaming environment where collaboration and communication are critical to the functioning of the team.
  • Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, project leads, customers, and with contract colleagues is essential.
  • Ability to attain and maintain respect and confidence of the customer and contract personnel. A close, cooperative customer interface is essential.
  • Mature, professional judgment in establishing objectives, milestones and priorities.
  • Reliable and dependable work habits and dedication to get the job done.

DESIRED:
  • Experience designing and analyzing large spacecraft buses
  • Experience working on government contracts.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
