Wood is recruiting for a Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) Discipline Lead Engineer to join its Eastern Canada Operations team. This opportunity involves providing discipline oversight through extensive and comprehensive knowledge of CSA engineering design principles.

The Role The successful candidate will provide discipline oversight through the application of extensive and comprehensive knowledge of CSA engineering design principles and practices in the performance of all discipline design work across our Eastern Canada business. RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage and work within departmental overhead budgets to manage utilization of resources vs workload
  • Plan and prioritize work to meet discipline commitments aligned with organizational goals; look ahead to determine and obtain needed resources to complete plans
  • Provide discipline personnel to deliver work scopes in line with company policies and procedures
  • Line Management of direct reports, including setting targets and objectives; performance reviews, career progression, training, and development
  • Implement formal development frameworks for the discipline design team, ensuring the development of personnel to take more senior roles as their career progresses
  • Collaboratively produce discipline input to proposals, and providing support to the business development process
  • Drive elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews, and embedding lessons learned in engineering procedures
  • Support Operations and Engineering Managers to produce discipline input to engineering execution plans and prepare/maintain estimates and schedules
  • Establish and continuously improve design systems and tools
  • Where appropriate, manage projects, maintain and plan cost control, identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
  • Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations, and Procedures
  • Provide technical assistance, checks, and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel, as required
  • Ensure HSE regulations are followed methodically

Expected:
  • Civil/Structural Engineering Degree from a recognized university
  • Registered professional engineer in Canada
  • 15+ years of experience in the Power Utility, Mining/Industrial, and/or Renewable Energy sectors considered an asset
  • Proven track record of leading a discipline engineering team
  • Demonstrable experience in managing civil, structural, and architectural scopes of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Solid knowledge of National Building Codes, CSA Standards, and local building codes and regulations primarily for Eastern Canada provinces
  • Attention to detail and pride in work quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong client focus
  • Resourceful team player with self-starter aptitude
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
