JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Piping Engineer with experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry based in Aberdeen.

Contributing to the delivery of Engineering excellence through:

• Executing assigned scopes of work
• Supporting and supervising task delegation to team
• Providing discipline expertise to the business
• Coaching and mentoring as delegated
• Manage and supervise direct reports

Process Ownership:

• Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement
• Participate in audits and incident investigations as required
• Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development
• Provide discipline support to the business

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide Piping Engineering Expertise
• Provide input to piping and layout studies
• Define piping design requirements for technical scopes
• Development of deliverables and documentation required for use in offshore workpacks and in the supply chain
• Support the development of and/or develop requisitions for the procurement of piping related material and equipment
• Undertake design checking of piping deliverables
• Provide support to the Lead Piping Engineer and the project delivery team
• Provide piping design technical expertise to the project
• Resolve piping related design issues by applying accepted principles, codes and standards
• Adhere to procedures to assure technical integrity of piping designs
• Provide support for interdiscipline considerations through attendance at required design reviews and undertaking inter discipline checking
• Maintain own knowledge and understanding to meet competence requirements of Senior Piping Designer
• Provide feedback on lessons learnt to aide in continuous improvement
• Utilise software tools in design development and checking (eg PDMS, Navisworks , E3D)

QUALIFICATIONS

• MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification or BSc, BEng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience
• Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent
• Competent in own discipline to provide support to the business
• Demonstrate current knowledge with industry and technology development within discipline
• Communication in written and spoken forms
• Participate in audit and incident investigations as required
