As we embark on a new Offshore Brownfield Engineering office based in Metairie, LA. we are seeking a talented and experienced Lead IC Engineer to join our team.

The I&C Engineer will play a key role in managing instrumentation and controls engineering efforts for our new offshore brownfield engineering office. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, environmental and regulatory specialists, to develop and implement instrumentation and controls engineering solutions for offshore facilities. A key success factor for the selected candidate will be the ability to efficiently manage the flow of work to remote (workshare) offices.

In addition to the production of engineering deliverables (construction work packs, engineering studies, regulatory & environmental reviews, asset management plans), a key success factor for the selected candidate will be the ability to efficiently manage the flow of work to remote (workshare) offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and oversee all instrumentation and controls engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to execution and closeout.
  • Develop instrumentation and controls engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, control system architectures, instrument datasheets, and specifications, in accordance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct control system design, including PLC/DCS programming, HMI/SCADA development, and network architecture design to ensure the reliability and safety of automation systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior instrumentation and controls engineers and designers, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against key milestones.
  • Interface with clients, regulatory agencies, and third-party contractors to address technical inquiries, resolve engineering issues, and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Participate in safety reviews, including HAZOP studies and SIL assessments, to identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with automation systems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate alternative control system designs and recommend optimal solutions.
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing vendor proposals, participating in technical evaluations, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and environmental stewardship, ensuring that all instrumentation and controls engineering activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering roles, with a focus on offshore oil and gas projects.
  • Proven expertise in control system design, analysis, and optimization of offshore production facilities, including power distribution systems, lighting systems, and instrumentation and control systems.
  • Proficiency in instrumentation and controls engineering software tools, such as PLC/DCS programming software, HMI/SCADA development tools, and AutoCAD Electrical, for control system design and analysis.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative and practical engineering solutions.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards governing offshore brownfield and decommissioning activities, including API, ISO, and OSHA requirements.
