Job Description
Join GE Vernova's Grid System Integration (GSI) team and help shape the future of high-voltage transmission systems. As a Power Systems & RAM Studies Engineer, you'll lead concept studies during the tender phase and manage technical studies throughout project execution. Your work will directly support the integration of renewable energy and contribute to the stability of power grids across Central Europe.
Your Key Responsibilities
During the Tender Phase:
- Analyze customer power system requirements, regulatory constraints, and relevant standards.
- Develop initial system architectures and identify optimization opportunities.
- Conduct preliminary load-flow studies using tools such as PowerFactory (DIgSILENT).
- Perform provisional RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) studies to align with client expectations.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure practical, cost-effective designs.
- Manage third-party resources for detailed studies (e.g., harmonic analysis) and validate their outputs.
- Serve as the technical interface to clients, presenting and defending proposed solutions.
During Project Execution:
- Define required studies, prepare procurement specifications, and coordinate with sourcing teams.
- Oversee external consultants, respond to technical queries, and validate study results.
- Act as the primary client contact for all power system study-related topics.
- Manage the client approval process, ensuring timely and comprehensive responses.
- Ensure alignment between system studies and practical project implementation.
Your Profile
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Power Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience conducting electrical studies on high-voltage transmission systems.
- Strong knowledge of load flow analysis, equipment sizing, reactive power control, harmonic mitigation, availability assessments, and insulation coordination.
- Proficiency in power system analysis tools (e.g., PowerFactory, DIgSILENT).
- Experience with RAM analysis tools (e.g., ReliaSoft, BlockSIM).
- Fluency in both German and English.
Preferred Attributes
- Deep understanding of power transmission systems and grid operations.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as the UK Grid Code.
- Strong communication skills and confidence in engaging with clients and consultants.
- Ability to bridge system studies with practical design implementation.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and a collaborative team player.
