What You'll Do
We are looking for a creative and passionate Product Test Engineer to join our team. The Product Test Engineer will be responsible for researching, planning, setting-up, performing, and documenting tests to support the qualification of a wide range of new products and components through quantitative and qualitative tests with particular emphasis on assessing long-term performance in harsh outdoor environments, as well as compliance to various standards. This is a hands-on position within a small team.

What We'll Offer
We offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, education and location. We anticipate the base salary for this position to be between $70,000 and $90,000 annually, if located in the San Francisco Bay Area market. In addition to base salary, Enstall employees are eligible for either an annual bonus or commission, depending on their position. If your desired salary falls outside of these rates, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.

- Working within a dynamic product development & innovation team, responsible for leading the development of new best in class mounting system solutions
- Develop and run mechanical, electrical, environmental and performance tests, using environmental chambers, tensile testers, load cells, power supplies, and other measuring/data acquisition/testing equipment to best suit the test objectives
- Create test plans, collect, and summarize detailed data for all tests and write test reports
- Design and procure custom-designed test equipment and fixtures
- Support product certification projects and module compatibility testing efforts
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders from product design, manufacturing, quality, and marketing teams.
- Manage and maintain test lab equipment and inventory to support Enstall's current needs and future growth
- Occasional field work, to include installation and testing of PV modules, arrays, and electrical systems
What You'll Bring
- BS in Mechanical or related engineering discipline
- 2+ years of Product Testing experience in solar or related industries
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a dynamic team environment
- Desire to think outside the box and solve traditional problems in new and better ways
- Outstanding organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Construction and fabrication experience
Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:
- Solid knowledge of UL, ASTM, IEC, NEC, IBC, ASCE and other relevant PV industry codes and standards
- Experience and knowledge in statistical methods, design of experiments, fire testing, FMEA, DVT, HALE/HALT, large scale structural testing, fatigue testing, cyclic testing, joint and assembly testing, metallurgical analyses, materials characterization, destructive and non-destructive test methods, galvanic corrosion, and other failure modes unique to long term outdoor exposure of metallic and plastic components
- Familiarity with commercial solar racking solutions as well as project engineering and construction
- Expertise in solar system design regarding electrical grounding/bonding, foundations, and load paths
- Fluent in 3D CAD software
- Strong knowledge in test equipment programming, automation, and data acquisition
- Expertise in common outdoor structural materials, their grades and heat treatments including steel, aluminum, wood, plastics, etc.
