Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Contract) – Water Recovery & Reclamation

Location: Redwater, Alberta

We are seeking a Mechanical Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with approximately 5-15 years of experience to join our team on a contract basis in Redwater, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting various aspects of our facility's water recovery and reclamation efforts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical initiatives in an innovative and fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Major Project Support: Participate in design reviews for major projects, ensuring mechanical systems align with project requirements and operational goals. Provide field execution support to ensure seamless project implementation, including site visits, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Contribute to project documentation and closeout activities.
  • MOC (Management of Change) Support: Assist with MOC processes for the designated area, ensuring all changes are properly documented, evaluated for impact, and compliant with regulatory and company standards.
  • Documentation & Closure Support: Provide support for updating and closing out general documentation related to mechanical systems, including as-built drawings, manuals, and maintenance records.
  • Troubleshooting & Cause Mapping: Lead technical troubleshooting activities for process equipment, including root cause analysis and resolution of operational issues. Develop and implement corrective actions for mechanical system failures.
  • Vacuum System Expertise (Asset): Utilize expertise in vacuum systems to support any related design, troubleshooting, or optimization efforts in the facility.
 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a valid P.Eng. designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
  • Experience: 5-15 years of mechanical engineering experience.
 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and design principles.
  • Proficiency in project management and support, including field execution and documentation.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, cause mapping, and troubleshooting of mechanical/process equipment.
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems and their application in industrial processes is considered an asset.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Other: Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
