Job Description

This role reports directly to the Surface Engineering Team Lead accountable for providing PACO Engineering, maintenance support and Technical Assurance to the SOV Sierras Blancas asset. The Sierras Blancas PACO engineer will be responsible for all PACO equipment including Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS / Safeguarding), Basic Process Control Systems (BPCS), Field Instrumentation, Shutdown and Blowdown Valves. Will support key SEAM processes such as ESP (Ensure Safe Production), MTO (Manage Threats and Opportunities), IAP (Integrated Activity Plan), MAC (Manage Asset Care) and OTS (Operational Technology Security). Provides technical support where required in alignment with the business priorities to drive and achieve facility business targets.

Accountabilities:

- Manage and Maintain Threats and Opportunities associated with the PACO discipline through MTO, including providing support to non-PACO led facility threats and opportunities.

- Manage and maintain the Sierras Blancas PACO budget and provide detailed input to financial business plans.

- Develop scopes of work and provide maintenance planners with relevant information to execute planned maintenance executed by 3rd party vendors

- Coordinate all PACO related modifications and provide technical support to non-PACO led modification through MOC process.

- Provide support to operations daily through surveillance to drive business targets and improve facility availability by analysis of process control trends and equipment diagnostics

- Provide technical input to "Time Out To Understand" and recommend sustainable solutions

- Assess facility integrity threats, from PACO perspective, on a daily basis and provide technical input to resolve threats in a timely manor

- Manage the Z6 process for all PACO notifications.

- Demonstrate the condition of your Safety Critical Elements by analysis of Work History.

- Provide technical assistance to operation daily with alarm management.

- Participate in technical audits and reviews, HAZOP, IPF reviews and peer assists as required.

-Provide support to maintain the PCE (process critical element) meters certificate up to date coordinating all the involved parties related to these tasks. Be Familiar with the National regulation 557/22 (ex 318/10) to support the Operation Team to be compliant with it.

- Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of controls and instrumented safety systems

Dimensions

The Sierras Blancas EPF and CPF facilities has been in operation since 7 (seven) and 2 (two) years respectively in the Vaca Muerta shales development. This presents several challenges around integrity management and obsolescence plus technology integration between these facilities. A successful candidate will need to have experience in managing obsolescence threats and will be required to apply "out the box" thinking for solutions to manage obsolescence. The role will require a very dynamic person with the ability to manage multiple work fronts and manage consistently changing priorities. The role includes intense surveillance focusing on running equipment and keeping it running rather than returning equipment to service. This role is expected to demonstrate clear understanding of business goals and target and requires significant leadership attributes including Learner mindset, Maximize our performance, Grow trust in us, Live our values and goal zero and Engage and inspire.

Regular presence in the Argentina field to provide direct supervision and support of activities is expected. Due to the areal extent of the field, driving might be required, including on unpaved roads

Interaction with all levels of the organization, including operators, field leadership, asset leadership, engineering, and project delivery staff.

The PACO Engineer is part of the Surface Technical Team and works closely with other members of the team, including rotating equipment and electrical specialists, and facilities and reliability engineers.

The PACO Engineer is expected to provide mentoring and coaching across the asset and should possess an HSSE driven (Goal Zero) mindset in order to improve process safety performance.

Systems in the PACO Engineer scope include, but are not limited to:
  • PLC / DCS
  • SIS
  • HMI
  • Communications (wired, wireless, TCP/IP networks, etc.)
  • Process Control Network (data acquisition and control, process and control access domain, third party access, etc.)
  • PI Server, Processbook, Datalink
  • Field instrumentation
  • Metering and allocation equipment

Requirements

Professional qualifications:

- Engineering degree related to PACO discipline or Diploma in related subject with relevant oil and gas experience.

- 7+ years relevant oil and gas experience covering multiple aspects of engineering and maintenance in the instrumentation discipline; preferably in upstream facilities.

- Solid background in Functional Safety and the application of IEC 61511 to projects and operations.

- Strong background in SIS systems maintenance and testing of SIS systems

- Familiarity with maintenance practices, scheduling and tools

- Demonstrable Leadership qualities and ability to work effectively within a multi-discipline team environment consisting of Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, and Operations in order to effectively develop and implement equipment care strategies.

- Organized, thorough, and professional.

- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and clients.

- Ability to articulate and defend a case for change or improvement.

- Fluent in Spanish, moderate to advanced reading/writing/speaking in English is preferred
