We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineer (Technology & Methodology Manager), to join our wind turbine foundation design team.

What you will be doing:

As our Principal Engineer (Technology & Methodology Manager), within the Offshore Wind Foundations Design team, focusing on defining and developing the technology and methodology required to execute FEED and Detailed Design projects for offshore wind turbine foundations. It also involves acting as a Principal Engineer in project delivery teams, ensuring technical excellence and effective execution throughout the project lifecycle. In addition, you will:

Technology And Methodology Manager duties and expected to average 1-2 days per week over the year:
  • Responsible for all technology and methodology development needed to keep a Tier 1 position within Offshore Wind Foundation Design.
  • Maintain a technology and methodology development strategy.
  • Lead the development organization, prioritize, approve and keep an overview of all technology and methodology development activities in the Business Unit.
  • Participate in project execution as Design Manager or Expert, at a balanced workload with the Technology and Methodology Lead role.
  • Leadership role in the Business Unit.

Principal Engineer duties and expected to average 3-4 days per week over the year:
  • Input to proposals for bids and tender inputs for the design phases of projects.
  • Plan & execute engineering work following the appropriate international codes and standards.
  • Act as a technical expert for offshore wind foundation design within own area of expertise.
  • Lead assigned engineers and drafting personnel to complete projects as per planned schedule and within budget.
  • Attend regular internal meetings and external third-party meetings as required.
  • Maintain responsibility for integrity, prepare working forecasts, identify change management plans, and corrective action as well as real-time schedules.
  • Participate in design reviews, audits and engineering related reviews.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure project completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and motivation to team members and provide training to new personnel.
  • And other duties as assigned.
  • You are responsible and accountable for the Quality & HSE aspects within your region / department and projects; shall promote QHSE related activities within all operations and ensure compliance to all applicable company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems and regulations.

This role can be based in Oslo, Norway, but we are also open to considering applications from candidates based in the UK, Denmark, and Hamburg, Germany. The candidate should have the legal right to live and work in one of these countries. Ability to work remotely as required. Onsite (office-based and offshore) attendance and time with clients with flexibility to working hours.

What we are looking for:

To excel in this role, you will need strong technical expertise in offshore wind foundation design, digital skills to optimize workflows, and proven leadership abilities to manage teams and projects. You should also possess excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills, along with a commitment to QHSE standards.

In addition, you will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline relevant for the role.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to lead team forward.
  • Very high level of technical competence in the relevant field.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to select and apply relevant standards, guidelines, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant software for the discipline.
  • Technically and commercially astute.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients.
  • High level of competency in written English to produce complex technical reports.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, a strong team player with a proactive approach.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy, and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Self-motivated, energetic and engaging.
  • Well organized and self-directed, proactive and insightful.

Desirable:
  • Master's degree or equivalent in a technical subject relevant for the role.
  • Accreditation from a relevant national professional institution as a professional or chartered engineer.
  • Should have worked for one of the top four wind turbine foundation design companies in a discipline leadership position for 5 years.
  • Have taken overall responsibility for the delivery of FEED and detailed design of 5x wind turbine jacket and 5x monopile foundation projects.
