About the Job

We are seeking a skilled, motivated, and versatile Piping Stress Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity, reliability, and performance of our products through comprehensive analysis and optimization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, evaluate, and enhance mechanical systems, components, and structures while considering various stress factors and mechanical properties. You will also be actively involved in the continuous improvement of the department. Responsibilities
  • Performing detailed pipe stress analysis using advanced engineering tools and software to assess the mechanical behavior of piping systems (stress, flexibility, reaction loads)
  • Collaborating with piping designers on safe and optimal pipe routing
  • Selecting and specifying suitable pipe supports, including springs, snubbers, and struts
  • Performing visual review of piping systems where necessary
  • Leading and supervising a team of project pipe stress engineers across multiple operating centers
  • Reviewing client specifications and authoring project-specific pipe stress work instructions
  • Writing requisitions for pipe supports and other piping components, interfacing with suppliers and reviewing vendor documents
  • Designing and evaluating special pipe supports
  • Maintaining discipline work instructions and standards

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of pipe stress engineering experience in petrochemical, refinery, renewables or power generation projects.
  • P.E. or P.Eng registration (preferred)
  • Proficiency in CAESAR II, Intergraph SmartReview or Navisworks, and Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g. ASME B31.3, B31.1, B31J, ASCE-7, and various MSS, API, and PIP standards)
  • Ability to independently generate analysis load cases to address all Code requirements
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis, 2D drafting, and 3D modeling (preferred, but not required)
  • Solid foundation in statics, strength of materials, and other relevant engineering fundamentals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical engineering challenges
  • Strong desire for self-improvement
  • Adaptability to perform various other tasks for the Piping Department as needed
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex technical information to diverse audiences
