The Process Engineer uses technical expertise to achieve operational and project objectives by working to design, implement, control and optimize new and existing processes that are used in Phillips 66 refineries. By partnering with internal and external stakeholders, the Process Engineer collaborates to build technically sound strategies around business improvement opportunities, safety enhancements and sustainability while reducing cost and maximizing profitability.

The Wood River Refinery is located in Roxana, Illinois, about 15 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, low-sulfur; heavy, high sulfur; and high-acid crude oil. The crude supply is sourced domestically or from Canada. Wood River produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, asphalt and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline, rail car, barge and truck and are shipped to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
The base pay range for this role is $ 108,900-176,400 depending on a candidate's relevant work experience and education.

Responsibilities May Include:
- Optimizing and troubleshooting process operations
- Understanding key economic measures and capturing unrealized value
- Evaluating key performance data including yields and reliability metrics
- Improving cost competitiveness and energy usage in process
- Communicating and correcting process quality problems
- Developing and driving implementation of process improvements
- Participating in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities such as MOC, PHA's and LOPA
- Maintaining key process safety information including P&IDs, PFDs, Heat and Material Balances
- Technical support for major turnarounds and unit shutdown / startups on shift schedule
- Providing process support and specifications for maintenance projects

Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
- 3 or more years of experience in refining, petrochemical or related industry
- 3 or more years of experience working as a Process Engineer
- Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following:
- Travel up to 5% of the time
- Occasional on-call duties
- Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Transport articles up to 50 pounds
- Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines
- Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet in height
- Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
- Work around hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat
- Work outside in harsh weather conditions
- Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
- Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
- 3 or more years of experience in refining
- 5 or more years of experience working as a Process Engineer
