Join us and you'll help make sure our residents of Leicester receive high quality service by ensuring our properties are managed and maintained effectively.
As the biggest landlord in Leicester, everything we do has an impact on everyone who lives in, works in, and visits the city. The sheer variety of our work means you'll find plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth. Not to mention all the support you need to build an exciting and rewarding career in a forward-looking city where you can see the positive impact of your work every day. We provide all the necessary training to keep you up to date along with development training and we will also fully support you along the way.
With this role you will be provided with a van, fully equipped with all the necessary power tools that you will need for your day-to-day job. There are other benefits to working for the Council which allow you to have a good work-life balance such as
• 5 weeks paid holiday entitlement per year - this will increase to 6 weeks per year after 5 years' service
• 8 Bank Holidays off as well as time off at Christmas.
• Staff discounts for shopping and gym memberships
• Ability to do compressed working hours to allow for a day off every week in agreement with management.
• Flexible working to allow me to collect my child from school when needed or manage other caring duties
What you'll be doing
You'll undertake gas work to help repair, maintain, adapt, and refurbish a range of council properties which are vacant, non- vacant and leasehold. You'll deal with tenants, lease holders and other stakeholders, to find out what needs doing, advise on the best approach, and keep them up to date on progress. This means working closely with other Engineers, sharing tips, organising your work to meet deadlines, and making sure you leave everything clean and tidy. In regular contact with managers, you'll let them know about any health and safety issues and make sure all the relevant gas safety checks, certificates and documents are filled in correctly.
What you'll need
With valid ACS qualifications - CCN1, CENWAT, CPA1, HTR1 & CKR1 you'll have experience of carrying out servicing and maintenance on gas appliances and domestic heating systems. You'll be used to doing a variety of work, including tracing gas faults, finding solutions, and installing works to meet design plans and current building regulations. You'll have good time management skills, along with the ability to work with a range of customers and vulnerable people at all levels. That means you'll need to be a confident communicator, with a friendly and professional attitude.
You'll need to have a full driving licence.
What we can offer you
As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You'll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We'll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from several flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
