Job Description

The Offshore Heavy Lifting business unit of Boskalis is active in both the offshore wind and in the oil and gas installation and decommissioning markets. With a focus on offshore wind we solve challenges in transport and installation of offshore wind farm foundations that are related to their harsh environmental conditions, heterogeneous soil profiles and scheduling risks. At Boskalis we want to be a partner our clients can rely on. How you can make your mark

Make your mark as Junior SHEQ Engineer at Boskalis within the Offshore Heavy Lift (OHL) Business Unit! We are looking for an inquisitive and enthusiastic Person who wants to develop themselves within the fields of occupational health and safety, the environment and quality. Initially you will support both the Corporate and Project Teams within the Business Unit to broaden your understanding and experience on the role of SHEQ within our organization. Ultimately though you will support our complex OHL projects across the globe (So if you are scared of flying this might not be the best role for you). You are an outgoing Person who is not afraid to meet new People and ask questions to broaden your knowledge. You will be expected to be proactive and able to work at times independently, however your greatest asset will be working within dynamic teams involving the whole business unit.

Your responsibilities as Jr. SHEQ Engineer:

• Support the Project SHEQ Teams as requested - this may include;
  • Preparation of various documentation (HSE Plans / Emergency Plans etc.).
  • Participate in risk assessment meetings.
  • Prepare and compile reports on statistics and present these to the Team.
  • Witness and participate in project audits / site inspections / task verifications.
• Gain an understanding of the tender and project SHEQ documentation reviews.
• Support completion and update of OHL SHEQ procedures, forms etc.
• Participate, support and potentially lead internal improvement programs.
• Seek support and guidance from experience SHEQ Professionals in the Team.
• Attend incident investigations / external audits to gain an understanding of the process.
• Successfully complete various SHEQ Trainings including; auditor training, incident investigation training, offshore survival training etc.

You can make your mark as Jr. SHEQ Engineer if you have:

• You are inquisitive, enthusiastic and have a real drive to challenge and apply yourself to learn about the world of SHEQ within OHL.
• Work experience is not necessary but it would be an added benefit.
• Having completed an Occupational Health & Safety Study is preferred (IVK / MVK / Nebosh) however for the right candidate we are also willing to provide such studies.
• A good command of written and spoken English.
• You're willing to travel to our project sites and vessels globally (2025 USA primarily).

Extra information

• Your team: You will work in the Offshore Energy Division within the Offshore Heavy Lift Business Unit in the SHEQ Team, which has approximately 14 professionals and is growing.
• Where you will work: For office-based roles, in consultation with your manager and your team, you work partly at home and partly in the office in Papendrecht.
• Full/part-time job: The position of Junior SHEQ Engineer is a full-time (40 hours a week) job.
