Senior NDE Engineer - FPSO Projects (Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

Key Responsibilities

1. Standards & Procedures

• Develop, review, and update standards and process documents for the Company and its affiliated entities.
• Review, verify, and approve Quality Assurance Procedures submitted by suppliers and subcontractors.
• Conduct gap analysis reports to compare current practices with client requirements and recommend improvements.

2. Coordination

• Liaise with Project EPCI Team, Classification Society, and Client Representatives to ensure NDE requirements are met.
• Provide technical mentorship and support for NDE activities during fabrication.

3. Audits, Assessments & Inspections

• Perform audits and assessments according to project plans, identify non-conformances (NCs), and propose corrective actions.
• Participate in resolving audit findings and support the closeout of NCs.
• Witness NDE procedure demonstrations, review reports for methods such as PAUT, RT, UT, and validate procedure, scan plan, and technique sheets.

4. Technical Queries & Deviation Management

• Review Technical Queries (TQs) and Design Deviation Notices (DDNs) submitted by suppliers and subcontractors.

5. Certification & Compliance

• Review and validate supplier and subcontractor technical qualifications.
• Verify NDE personnel certification and equipment records to ensure compliance.

6. NDE Technique Development & Implementation

• Develop innovative solutions to material and weld-related challenges.
• Assist suppliers and subcontractors in developing new NDE procedures to meet project needs.

7. Root Cause Analysis & Problem-Solving

• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for NDE-related issues and collaborate with the QA Manager, Package Engineer, Site Manager, and Supervisors to implement corrective actions.
• Develop practical solutions to complex welding and material integrity issues.

8. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Monitoring

• Develop and monitor KPIs for NDE performance.
• Track subcontractor work progress and suggest strategies to reduce NDE backlogs during fabrication.

9. Surveillance & Compliance

• Implement NDE personnel verification and surveillance programs in projects.
• Ensure compliance with MODEC Corporate/Project Specifications by integrating lessons learned from past projects.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline (Degree preferred).
• 5 to 7 years of experience in onshore/offshore oil & gas or FPSO projects.
• Hands-on experience in UT and advanced NDE methods.
• Strong radiographic film interpretation skills and working knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and classification requirements.

Certifications & Technical Skills

• ASNT Level III certification or equivalent in common NDE methods.
• PCN PAUT/TOFD Level 2/3 or equivalent.
• Proficiency in PAUT, RT, UT, TOFD, and other advanced NDE techniques.
