Job Overview:
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Electrical Lead to play a key role in a significant offshore expansion project. Reporting to the Head of Commissioning Offshore, this role is responsible for overseeing electrical commissioning during the execution stage, ensuring all objectives are met safely, efficiently, and in line with project schedules.
This position is ideal for an experienced commissioning professional with a background in offshore oil and gas projects, looking to take on a challenging role in a dynamic and high-profile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage electrical commissioning activities, ensuring timely execution while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards, particularly during SIMOPS.
- Oversee contractor commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with recognised methodologies and standards.
- Supervise offshore execution of electrical commissioning and drive progress in line with project targets.
- Monitor and support vendor activities, punch list clearance, and overall system readiness.
- Ensure the use of commissioning databases and methodologies to track progress effectively.
- Provide technical guidance, reviewing contractor execution plans and ensuring alignment with contractual requirements.
- Coordinate and communicate with multidisciplinary teams, including construction, hook-up, and system completion teams.
- Assess and mitigate commissioning risks while monitoring implementation strategies.
- Review commissioning-related changes, assessing potential cost and schedule impacts.
- Ensure all necessary milestones are achieved, including mechanical completion walkdowns, readiness for commissioning, start-up preparations, and system handover.
- Attend project meetings and mentor junior team members, sharing insights and lessons learned from the project.
Requirements:
- Education: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a Bachelor's degree with extensive industry experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of industry experience, with at least 6 years in commissioning roles on major offshore projects.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience with commissioning of electrical systems including UPS, HV/LV switchgear, normal and emergency power distribution, transformers, electrical protection systems, navigation aids, HVAC, and subsea cables.
- Operational Knowledge: Familiarity with blackout procedures, first energisation, and performance testing in line with contractual requirements.
- Methodologies & Standards: Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, industry best practices, and applicable regulations.
- Project Execution: Experience in working with EPC contractors, vendors, and subcontractors within the oil and gas sector.
- Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and manage key stakeholders.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in relevant software tools and office applications to support commissioning activities and reporting.
