Quality Engineering Specialist

Job Specification Job Purpose
  1. Quality Assurance and Control: The ERS develops and implements quality assurance processes and control measures to monitor drilling activities. This includes assessing materials, equipment, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  2. Risk Management: Identifying potential quality risks associated with drilling operations is essential. The ERS conducts risk assessments and develops mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on safety, timelines, and costs.
  3. Inspection and Testing: The ERS is responsible for performing inspections and tests on drilling equipment, materials, and processes. This includes evaluating the integrity of casing, cementing, and completion systems to ensure they meet specifications.
  4. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and compliance with regulatory requirements is crucial. The ERS will prepare detailed reports and documentation that support quality assurance initiatives and provide a basis for continuous improvement.
  5. Collaboration and Training: The ERS collaborates with various stakeholders, including drilling teams, managers, service providers, and safety, to foster a culture of quality. They may also provide training to personnel on quality standards and procedures to enhance overall operational performance.
  6. Continuous Improvement: Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing quality data, identifying trends, and recommending enhancements to processes and procedures is a vital aspect of the role. The ERS seeks to optimize drilling and completion operations while reducing costs and enhancing safety.
Reporting and Relationships
  • Reports to: Quality Assurance & Improvement Lead and/or CI Manager
  • Clients: Operations Superintendents / Drilling & Completions Engineer Manager
Internal:

  • Closely collaborate with counterparts with Operations Superintendents for Drilling, Well Integrity, Petroleum Engineering
  • Contact with Wells Enablement Quality Team and Unconventionals Quality Lead
External:

  • Frequent contact and interaction with service partners and Contractors
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
  • Support to include all quality assurance efforts during the procurement and execution of services
  • Working often independently to complete a task, while updating the Operations and Quality Leadership as to the status
  • Work both in office and field
  • Assist Drilling and procurement by ensuring fit for risk application of goods and services provided to the Wells Delivery Team
  • Data acquisition and trends – leverage data from WellView to support fit for risk application of time and people when trends develop
Safety Health & Environment
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company Safety, Health and Environment and Quality policies, regulations, and standards
Wells Team Program
  • Contribute to the development of company employees and contractors
Part B: Person Specification
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is desired
Qualifications Knowledge and/or Experience:

  • 8 years’ experience in drilling & completions / oilfield related inspection, manufacturing, or quality/procurement. At least 2 years in a position requiring minimal daily supervision. General background of 5 years in quality assurance/quality control programs related to goods and services used in drilling and completion operations.
Technical and Business Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of sound quality assurance practices
  • Abreast of best practices and latest technology in meeting minimum industry standards and specifications (such as API and/or ISO 9000, ASME, NACE, etc.) for drilling and completions services, inspecting, manufacturing, transporting, installation and storing oilfield equipment
  • General knowledge of Oilfield Drilling Engineering and Operations
  • Experience in Drilling Engineering and Operations is highly desirable
  • General knowledge of oil field Drilling Engineering and operations
  • Knowledge of Material Selection/Engineering, Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Nonconformance Reporting and Continuous Improvement Systems
