Quality Management Specialist – Major Energy Projects

We are seeking an experienced Quality Management Specialist to join a leading organisation delivering large-scale energy projects. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring quality standards are upheld across major engineering and construction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project and departmental Quality Management System (QMS) documentation in line with corporate and industry standards.
• Act as the focal point for contractor, corporate, and external QMS audits, working closely with project teams and contractors to plan and execute audits effectively.
• Provide expert guidance on ISO 9001 standards, QMS documentation, and certification requirements to project and departmental teams.
• Prepare and oversee the implementation of Project Quality Plans (PQP) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring alignment with overarching project quality objectives.
• Ensure that quality and technical requirements are incorporated into all project scopes, including contractor and supplier QA/QC obligations and engineering deliverables.
• Participate in the pre-qualification of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and industry quality standards.
• Play a key role in technical bid evaluations, ensuring that bidders fully understand and commit to quality requirements.
• Review and approve QA/QC documentation across all project phases, including welding and testing procedures.
• Assess and respond to technical queries and deviations related to welding and non-destructive testing.
• Oversee contractor and supplier engineering and construction deliverables, ensuring compliance with materials, corrosion, and special process requirements.
• Implement deviation and non-conformance control systems, ensuring proper resolution of corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead and manage a multi-discipline QA/QC team, ensuring adherence to inspection and test plans throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct site visits to oversee construction quality and attend project meetings as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering (or equivalent).
• IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor and ASNT Level II certification in RT / MT / PT / UT.
• Recognised certifications in welding and painting inspection (e.g., AWS, CSWIP, TWI).
• Affiliation with professional quality organisations such as CQI or ASQ is advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry, ideally with major engineering, procurement, installation, and construction (EPIC) contractors or end-user organisations.
• Extensive experience across all EPIC project phases, with hands-on expertise in QA/QC functions.
• Strong working knowledge of equipment/material manufacturing inspections and certification processes.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously from a corporate office environment.
• Proficiency in interpreting and applying international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, NACE, AWS, API, BS, ISO).
• Deep expertise in welding and non-destructive testing (NDT).
